Demons

I honestly have no idea what this one is. Nevertheless, enjoy!

"My god, Jesse! Are you alright?!" Petra said in a hushed tone, rushing over to Jesse's side, followed by Lukas.

"I'm...fine-" A sharp cry of pain escaped his mouth as he doubled over.

"Jesse!"

The agonizing ripping sensation was so consuming to Jesse could barely comprehend the heavy night sky, thick with fog that strobed in and out of focus surrounding him. His body swayed violently, feeling the clutches of gravity drag him down onto the ground.

"Jesse, you need to tell us what happened."

Lukas kneeled down to Jesse's level, propping his fingers under Jesse's chin, forcing the injured boy to look at him.

Jesse avoided Lukas's gaze as he spoke in a quiet voice.

"You guys just saw what happened, with Aiden." He muttered.

"No, before that?"

"Some kind of trap. Stuck in the forest for a few days." Jesse's lip quivered as he spoke. In the moonlight, his skin was a pale shade of grade, his normally emerald green eyes a stormy gray.

Jesse forced himself to his feet, every muscle in his body on fire. "Really, guys, I'm alright." he said with a weak smile, tears glistening in his eyes.

"Jesse, no. You can't keep doing this." Lukas look Jesse's hands, a sincere expression resting on his face.

Jesse shoulders trembled compressed a cry, leaning his weight against a tree.

"How are we going to get home?"

"I can walk-"

Petra frowned at Jesse. "Jesse. Remember what Lukas said?"
"I can." Jesse insisted, his expression contouring into a forced smile, one that was a weak attempt at hiding the demons haunting him. The smile dissolved into a pained expression as soon as he put weight on his leg, the color draining from his face. His body crumpled as he clutched his leg.

"I'm sorry." Jesse whispered as a halfhearted sob emerged from him, a tear slipping down his cheek.
