My attempt at female Jesse.

she reminds me of a puppy who's been kicked too many times

The murmurs of the crowd diminished as Jesse went onto the stage, fiddling with her oversized shirt. "Greetings, everyone.." She paused, and I guess she thought it was too formal, so she rephrased it. "Hi. I just wanted to say...I'm so sorry for all of this happening. This is our plan for rebuilding." She paused once more, awaiting the crowd's reaction. Dead silent. She cleared her throat before continuing. "So, first we can repair the gates, then I figure we'd start fixing and rebuilding some of the houses." She said, and then continued. "It will take awhile but we will rebuild. And this has only made us stronger." she said, but her voice quavered at the end. Eventually, someone from the crowd spoke up. "What about Romeo?" Jesse stared at the person, before taking a deep breath and giving her answer.

"I don't know."

There was an awkward moment of silence, and she looked at Petra and I from backstage desperately. Petra shrugged, and I frowned, not knowing what to say. Jesse bit her lip, hard, taking a deep, shaky breath. I saw tears fill her eyes, and she brushed them away, only smearing them. She then let out a strangled sob, her whole body quivering as she covered her face with her hands. "I'm so, so sorry..." She whispered into the mic. I ran over to her, and she held out her arms, and I wrapped my arms around her. I tapped the mic to make sure it was working, and then said, "If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of us. Remember, this isn't Jesse's fault, it's Romeos. Good luck, everyone." I said, monotone. Jesse just started crying harder, burying her face into my shirt. I lead her backstage, and the crowd disbanded. "Let's go home." Petra said, pursing her lips together. She took Jesse's hand, and we led her home like a small child.
