Lonely

Jesse's eyes fluttered open, squinting from the light flooding the room. Golden rays of sunlight were peeking through the window, there was a fresh coat of snow on the ground, flurries dancing in the air. Groaning, he shut the window, darkness swallowing his room. He brought his knees to his chest, resting his head on his knees.

3 years.

This was his 3rd Christmas. Being completely alone. Like his friends had forgotten him.

He forced himself out of bed, reaching for the draw by his nightstand, trembling as he reached for a small book filled with pictures.

As soon as he saw the cover, a sob burst forth from him, chest heaving as he gazed down at the photo. It was him and his two best friends when they were younger.

Jesse threw the book against the wall, leaving a small dent in it as the book laid sprawled out on the floor.

The weight of the world came crashing down on him as a scream tore from his throat, anger at himself for letting them go, for not going with them, for being so selfish.

He crumpled in despair, slumping against the wall next to the book. Ripping each and every page out, tearing it to bits, the sooner forgotten, the better.
