Jesse stood there, shivering as he yanked his collar up, the tip of his nose a vibrant shade of red due to the frigid weather. The tips of his fingers were ice, his breaths making small puffs of clouds in the air. He situated himself on a bench, bringing his knees up to his chest and taking in the hazy winter scene.

There was a glistening layer of white glorious snow on the ground, coating the trees as well. The flurries were floating around in the sky, and besides his footprints, the place was untouched, nobody would go to the park in a blizzard.

That is, besides Jesse.

Suddenly, a memory resurfaced. He perked up a bit from his slumped posture, as if the memory was a tangible thing. His eyes scanned the scene once again. Yes, this was the place.

The whole order sat there, in a semicircle, reciting old tales. Jesse allowed himself a small smile, glad he was able to get all of his friends together again. Lukas was reciting an old story of how he was once chased by a bear, and Petra was leaning against a tree, for once her attention focused on Lukas.

Jesse was inches away from her, feeling her body heat reflect off of his own. Without thinking, he scooted up close to her, tilting his head so it was resting on her shoulder. There was a moment of anticipation where Jesse wanted to see her reaction. She wrapped her arm around the brunette's waist, leaning in closer. Jesse felt something he hadn't felt in a long time, he hadn't felt since Reuben had passed, a sense of closure, of being complete.

Petra was out on another one of her adventures, it had been almost a year since he'd seen her. She came and went, one minute there, the next gone on an adventure. The two hadn't gotten close since the time a few years ago when Jesse rested his head on her shoulder, he wanted so badly to do more, express his love, yet he was afraid of her reaction.

He let out a long sigh, feeling a silent tear slip down his cheek. He brushed it away, barely noticing the crunch of footsteps, growing louder and louder. When it was inches away, he noticed, his muscles rigid in anticipation. That was the less fortunate side of everything he had gone through, whenever he heard footsteps and he was alone, he would always assume the worst. He craned his neck, to see her.

Bundled up against the cold weather, he couldn't tell at first. She tugged down her scarf a bit, revealing her famous smirk, which was her natural expression. A blue wool hat had replaced her usual bandana, with matching blue gloves that only exposed her fingertips, which were fairly scarred. Her face was all red, and he could see her body shudder a bit as the wind picked up. Without hesitation Jesse got up, wrapping his arms around her. She hugged back, burying her face into his coat. "Missed you." She muttered, something she didn't admit often.

"Same to you." Jesse said when he finally pulled away, wanting to do so much more than just say he missed her, to say I love you, do more than a hug could. "So ...what's been going on? Have I missed anything?" Petra asked. Jesse's shoulders gave a slight shrug. "Not much." He said, but he noticed Petra's focus wasn't on Jesse, rather at the floor. Jesse glared at her suspically as she brushed off a layer of snow, then she looked up at Jesse.

"Ice."

She giggled, shoving Jesse slightly and watching as he skid across the ice, barely able to not lose his footing. "Oh, you're going to pay for that!" He said, trying to run after her but only slipping, face planting onto the snow as Petra's laughter ringed throughout the forest. This time being more careful, he walked towards Petra whom had let her guard down, and playfully nudged her. She slipped, but not before grabbing Jesse's hands, taking him with her. Both were laughing as Petra was on the floor, Jesse on top of her. They both stopped laughing, and Jesse stared at her awkwardly, feeling the blush creep up on his face. How much he wanted to kiss her. Before he could even fathom what he could've done, Petra smiled before gingerly pressing her lips against Jesse's.

At first he was surprised, especially since it was to be considered his first kiss, but he just did what came to him naturally, kissing back. For what seemed like a long time, the two kissed, only one emotion overtaking Jesse: Bliss. Finally, when he pulled away, Petra smiled again. "I knew you wanted that."

"I've been waiting for years." The brunette responded, taking her hand as they got up. The two walked home, fingers intertwined.
