Yep, another except. Was going to post a book "Omit" But never got finished and person who I was doing it with has been offline for a bit...for context, petra was stabbed, and Jesse is missing.
"Jesse?!"
The only thing they got in response was the wind, which was starting to pick up. "Why is it so damn cold?" Lukas muttered in annoyance, his signature leather jacket offering him little protection from the harsh weather. "We have bigger problems." Aiden said, shoving his hands in his pockets. "Now what? Wait for him to come back?" He asked, sitting down on a nearby bench. "Well, if he did go out, he should be back by morning, and sure as hell somebody didn't kidnap him." Lukas remarked.
"You think he'd just up and leave? Considering the circumstances?"
"No, that's not what I said! What I meant was-"
"Enough!" Another voice snapped harshly, and both boys turned their heads to see Petra. She was leaning on her sword, the sterile, white bandage plastered on her side stained crimson. "Petra!" They said in unison, and Lukas ran over to him. "You shouldn't be up." He remarked, gingerly grabbing her arm. She pushed it away. "Well, I'm tired of you two arguing so much! I can hear you from miles away!" She hissed, an icy glare settling on her face. "Okay, fair point, but first of all, you were literally stabbed yesterday. Second - "
" - Jesse's missing." Aiden finished for Lukas."What?" This actually caught Petra off guard. "I thought he was just somewhere in beacon town." She said, dismissively.
"That's what we thought at first too." Aiden muttered grimly.
"Can we at least wait until the morning? Maybe he was just...I don't know, somewhere besides beacon town?" Lukas retorted, crossing his arms as his body gave a slight shiver. "Of all people, I'd expect you to care the most. After all, Jesse is your lover." The words poured out of Aiden's mouth before he could process them, take a moment to fathom his words. Lukas felt the blush creeping up on his face but it was then replaced with blinding anger, as he got up, his palm colliding with Aiden's cheek, and he slapped Aiden so hard he stumbled backwards barely able to keep his balance.
"Stop! What's wrong with you guys!?" Petra yelled, infuriated, staggering over to the boys and breaking them up. This simple act left her dizzy, the color drained out of her face as she keeled over. Whatever had happened before was irrelevant, as Aiden rushed over to Petra, planting his hands on her shoulders. "You good?" He asked, twice, since the question didn't register to Petra at the moment. "Does she look good to you!?" Lukas said, motioning to Petra, blood slowly trickling out of mouth as she clutched her stomach, pain etched on her face. Her knees buckled, her eyes closing as she slumped against the floor, out like a light. "Oh god!" Lukas practically yelled, and Aiden scowled at Lukas as he slipped his arms under the limp redhead, lifting her off of the ground. The two boys went home, silently blaming each other.
Petra's eyes fluttered open, and the first thing she noticed was the pain in her stomach, which became unbearable when she tried to sit up, or even move. As soon as her gaze met Aiden, a confused expression arose on her face; she wasn't sure what she was feeling.
"You should go back to sleep; it's the only time when you're not scowling. Improves your expression a lot."
Of course, this made Petra scowl, which just made Aiden laugh. Petra glared at him but couldn't help smiling a little.
"So.." Petra muttered.
"I don't know what to do about Jesse. Lukas has been looking around town, asking around a bit."
"Or did you two just want to put some distance in between each other?" Petra smirked, forcing herself to sit up. "Yeah, about that..." Aiden said, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. He stopped himself when he saw Petra visibly flinch. "You okay?" He asked nervously. "Oh, hush. I'm fine." Petra said, unconvincingly. "You're a bad liar." Aiden muttered. "Oh, I can lie if I want. Who can't lie?" She said, then gave a small cough.
"Can I go to bed now?" She asked, falling back onto the mass of pillows. "Oh, yeah. Sorry if I was disturbing you. I'll go get some water if you need." He said, going to get a glass of water. By the time he was back, he saw her, curled up in a ball, the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest. Aiden silently evaluated her; she looked like she couldn't pass for more than 16 at most. Innocent. Sweet. He couldn't resist himself, he crept up to her, waving his hand in front of her face. No response. He checked to see if nobody was looking, and quickly pressed his lips against the innocent sleeping girl's lips, brushing a loose strand of hair out of her face.
"Who can't lie, Petra?" He whispered in the girls ear.
