Jesse blindly stumbled into his room, a helpless sound escaping his mouth as his knees buckled, a million thoughts rushing inside his head. His head was throbbing, his frail body racked with quiet sobs, feeling worthless.

Tears rushed down his cheeks as his fingers wrapped around the handle of the draw, blindly clawing around until he felt the edge of the razor brush against his finger. He grabbed it, his hands trembling slightly as he held up the blade.

He gently pressed it against his wrist, feeling the cold metal against his skin. He angled the tip of the blade against his wrist, a blur of thoughts spiraling in the back of his mind. He took a small, shallow breath before dragging the knife along his wrist, feeling the blade slice into his wrist, droplets of blood seeping out.

His grit his teeth as he dug the knife further into it, a gush of blood seeping down his wrist, coating his arm. He hissed in pain, forcing the blade in deeper, the dull throb in his head seeming miniscule compared to the agonizing ripping sensation in his wrist. The blade dropped as it clattered on the floor, and he writhed in pain on the floor, wrapping his fingers around his arm, probing the warm, slippery blood.

A gasp tore from his throat as he slammed his head against his bed frame over and over, begging for the pain to end. His vision was foggy, he was lying in a pool of blood, and he could barely make out the approaching footsteps, the door slamming open.

For a moment, when Lukas stared down at Jesse's form, he lost the ability to form words.

"Jesse! Why!?"

He kneeled down next to Jesse, who's breathing was ragged, the color drained from his face, his normally glistening emerald eyes a pale, stormy green.

"Why?" Lukas whispered as he looked into Jesse's distant eyes. A silent tear slipped down Lukas's face.

"I'm...sorry." Jesse's eyes opened for a second as he spoke, his body slumped back against the floor as his eyes shut.

"No! Jesse! Please!" Lukas begged, his hands slipping behind Jesse's head. "I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you..."

A blur of colors came into focus, his mind still a hazy mess of dark thoughts, dragging him down. He was aware of the ache in his head, the stiffness in his joints. He tried to sit up, but groaned, his whole body feeling sluggish. The lights seemed to bright, contributing to his headache. The foggy memories of before came flooding into his brain, and he shuddered. He carefully lifted his wrist up to his face, seeing stitches on his arm, small and even. The skin around his wrist was a shade of red. He collapsed back into a lying position, his eyes darting around the room.

"Lukas?" His voice was hoarse, and he cringed, forcing himself to say it again more clearly. Lukas was in a chair, a book on his lap, his eyes closed. Even when he was sleeping, he wore a troubled expression.

Lukas's eyes fluttered open, his expression meeting Jesse's.

"Glad your awake." Lukas said, walking over to Jesse's bedside.

"Wish I could say the same..." Jesse muttered, once again examining the stitches on his wrist.

"Why?" Lukas bit his lip as he stared at Jesse.

"...Come again?"

"Why? Why did you...try to commit?"

"I don't know, I just felt..."

"...Worthless."
