Tired and alone the girl continues down this path. It has been three days since she last was in the forest. She only moves from dusk till dawn. The old cat taught her years ago to keep in the dark. It's hard for normal people to see in the dark, at least that's what he said. From the sign, she saw earlier she only has a few more hours to travel to she reaches the city. The city houses the one person who should have at least one answer. It's a great place to start. She knew she didn't have the foggiest idea what would make him speak to her but that didn't matter. All that matters right now is finding him. She would find out how to make him talk after that. She was sure of it. As far back as she could remember she would get these feelings. They hung around her like a veil and we're never wrong. She once even saved the old cat with one, who knew why he decided to listen to her. She could count on her hands how many people saw her on this trip. For that she was grateful. She had a slight feeling if too many people see her she would come to regret it. "No," she told herself "now is not the time to be afraid." She was right. Fear, while good in small amounts, would make her mess up. She had to keep her head on straight.
"There it is," she said to herself under her breath.
She had finally arrived. That was the easy part. Now she had to find a man. She was told he was a gang leader. A gang that dabbles in human trafficking. More specifically child trafficking. She had come to the conclusion that sure just be a victim of his. Why else did she not have a family? Sure she couldn't remember ever having one but that must be because he took her so young. Or at least that's what she told herself.
Several days passed. She had started to lose hope when good news finally graced her ear. A deal was being made and the man making the deal was the one she was after. Her excitement was palpable. Dropping everything she was doing the girl in the cloak made her way across the city. She arrived a bit early, but as far as she was concerned that was a good thing. She took her time and scoped out the rooftops in the area. She knew which one she needed it to sit on and which she should use to follow her target. Now it was just a matter of time.
As she started to question if her intel was bad the man she was waiting for arrived, and what luck he was alone. She started to move in sliding off the roof she started to walk towards him. Trying with every step to keep her cool. Suddenly three more men arrived.
"Damn it" she muttered under her breath. She had forgotten that this was a meeting. Meetings meant more than just one person. Thinking quickly she moved back into the shadows. Carefully she looked for a new vantage point. The god of luck was with her that night, she was sure of it. Just on the other side of the building was a tall tree. She slowly moved toward it staying deep in the shadows. Trying her hardest to keep quiet she climbed its branches. Now she had to wait. That would be easy. She has waited her entire life, a few more hours would fly by.
