"Do you know either of them?" Fa was still standing next to the girl. It had not been long since the two people following them had warned her and then just up and left. It made zero sense to the girl at all and apparently, Fa felt the same way. The girl could feel the sense of confusion coming from the cloak as well. The two had an aura of power to them. They probably could have killed the girl without even trying. So why didn't they? The thought truly worried the girl. Made her want to just rest for the rest of the night and maybe wake up with a new outlook on the situation. Fa disagreed. "They know where we are now little kitten. We can not at all cost just stay here like bait. We need to get somewhere they may not want to cause a ruckus at." When the girl thought about it she agreed. As they traveled the girl kept running the situation through her head. The more she replayed it the more she noticed. She had not noticed before but they both had red eyes, much like her one eye. They had strong-looking armor. The bigger figures was spiked while the smaller was smooth and quick looking. But above all else, she kept thinking of the warning. Who exactly were they talking about? Why should she ignore this person she has yet to even meet.
Time flew past with her running through her thoughts. Before she knew it Fa pulled her hand.
"We have gotten far enough let us rest now" The girl looked around and noticed they were no longer in the plains. They were back in a wooded area. The relation made her feel at home. They looked around and found themselves some broken branches and a hollow in a tree. With these things, they made a good shelter for the night. As they started to wind down the Fa started to speak. Her voice was very serious. "Did you know those two men." She was looking into the girl's eyes.
"No. To be honest I didn't even know they were men Fa." This made Fa chuckle
"They are not men per se but they are male. Those were Horric little kitten." Fa was now looking at the fire they were cooking over, her stick moved a mix of berries around the pan they had bought a few cities back. "Horric are not something someone your age should have seen by now." Fa's face had a look of seriousness she had never seen before. "The first time I met a Horric was when Torikk and I were still with the troop. Back then I was very full of myself and because of it the man I later had a daughter with died." The girl could see a slight tear form in the corner of her eye.
"You do not have to tell me." The girl felt the cloak tighter around her.
"I thank you for that and I think I will take you up on that, but I will tell you this. They train their entire lives to do one thing. Whatever that thing is the master. And since they have lives that easily triple humans, they become terrifyingly proficient. Even something as simple as cooking can become a weapon in the hands of a Horric. Do not trust them ever. They only want one thing." The girl did not want to know what. Her and the cloak both shivered thinking about how horrible Horric seemed. The two beings stayed in her mind as she tried to sleep. She spent hours unable to make any progress in her efforts. She soon found herself throwing the cloak's hood over her head, covering her eyes. She left her eyes open, looking into the darkness the hood created. After some time a spark appeared in front of her. But not one of flames. Instead, it was a beautiful hue of blue. It was met by an exquisite shade of green. The two colors danced in front of her eyes for what felt like an eternity. The next thing the girl knew it was daybreak. She felt her eyes open though she honestly could not recall closing them. Her body felt the way it would after the full nights of sleep back at the tree home. It puzzled her immensely but she felt a sense of gratitude to the cloak. She knew it had something to do with the phenomenon. When she looked around her surroundings she found Fa was not there. A slight sense of panic rose in her chest. The stories of the Horric worried her from the night before. She looked around for a struggle only to find a trail of footprints leading in a specific direction. Following it exactly the girl came across Fa in a river bathing.
"This may be our last chance to get clean for a long time little kitten. Don't be afraid of the water." Fa stuck her tongue playfully out at the girl. The sight made the worry melt away, for the time being.
