The girl floated alone in the spring. She looked up at the ceiling of the cave lost in thought. It was nice to be able to think.
"Little kitten I want to show you something." the voice behind these words was not the usual ones. Fa-Lees stood at the edge of the water. She was wearing nicer clothes than usual. They were still pants and shirts as per usual but something about them almost seemed fancy. She stood holding another set of clothes. "These are for you little kitten." It felt kind of strange to hear her say that. She got out of the water and shook the water off of her at first. Fa smiled and handed her a piece of cloth to dry off with. The girl then slipped on the new shirt and pants she was given. The top was a black silk shirt with sleeves that went past her hands. The bottoms were normal pants but felt special and she didn't know why. Fa started to cry a little when she saw the girl fully clothed in her new outfit.
"Did I do something wrong Fa?:
"Not even a little. Come we have something important to do."
The girl grabbed her cloak then followed Fa. when they came around the corner Torikk stood to wait. He was still in just his fur, some of which towards his feet were still wet, but now had a Black hat with a feather on and a beautiful piece of jewelry around his ear. The piece looked like some kind of creature, something she couldn't make out from this distance, that was made of silver. It had two pieces of onyx gems perfectly shaped into eyes on either side of its face. Though it was simple it took the girl's breath away. Then she noticed something out of the ordinary. Torikk had a gigantic smile on his face. She could not remember the last time she saw the old cat smile let alone smile so big.
"Did you tell her?"
"No, I wanted you to."
The girl stood confused but didn't interrupt the two.
"Little Kitten," Torikk began to speak looking straight at the girl, "Tonight is a special night. We waited just for you to be back so we may share this moment with you." The girl looked at him confused. As she watched Torikk, Fa moved closer to him. Fa put her hand into a pouch she had on her hip and produced from it a beautiful black piece of silk. It had a blue design down the center of it.
"Little kitten do you know what this is?" Fa asked looking at the girl with a large smile on her face as well. The girl said nothing but shook her head. "This is a ceremonial cloth to tie two lives together. This one is special it was blessed by Torikks tribe as well as my people."
"Tie two lives together?" The girl asked confused.
"We would like you to be our witness little kitten as we become a family." The girl's jaw dropped as what they were saying clicked in her mind. They were here not only to cleanse her but to cleanse them as well. Even with his injuries Torikk and Fa-Lees were to be wed. A smile danced across the girl's lips as she started to blush.
"What do I do?"
"That part is simple," Torikk began.
"Simply take this silk and wrap it around both of our wrists twice. Leave the rest to us." Fa finished. And so the girl in the cloak did. As she wrapped the fabric around their wrists she felt threads move along her arm. She quickly looked down and saw part of the cloak moving along her arm. As it came in contact with the silk began to glow a beautiful deep purple through the black. This did not distract the two as they spoke to each other.
"Now we have given them our gift as well little one," the girl heard the cloak say in her head. Her heart grew warm knowing she was not alone on this fabulous night. As the two finished their words Fa leaned down as Torikk got up on his toes and they shared their first kiss as husband and wife. It was only now the girl noticed just how short Torikk was compared to Fa. The top of his ears only came to the middle of her breast. Before she could stop herself she let out a little giggle. Torikk looked at the girl.
"What?" Before the girl could reply Fa smirked and giggled as well.
"You're just so short," Fa spoke the words the girl was too shy to say.
Again thoughts of her own family went through the girl's head. She could not fathom what love was like. That didn't matter right now though. She was happy for the first time in a while. The one person she cared about was truly happy and showing it now. Thoughts of her future continued to race through her head as they left the hot spring and headed home. Torikk and Fa walked hand in hand talking between the two of themselves.
"Someday I want that."
"Someday you will have that little one. I promise."
"What are you thinking little kitten." Torikk's voice took her away from the conversation with her cloak.
"It's just so beautiful how tonight went. I never expected it." The girl responded.
"I'm just grateful to you for being our witness."
Blushing the girl asked. "Why did she cry when she saw me but these on."
"Those were her daughter's clothes."
"Where is her daughter?" The girl asked.
"She died years ago when she was about your age. Fa doesn't like to talk abou..." Torikk's last world trailed off. As it did the girl noticed a strange glow. Looking from Torikk to where they were walking she saw a sight of horror. The tree that Torikk and the girl had lived in for so many years was up in flames. The home they knew and loved was burning down. In front of it was a sword with a note on it. Torikk grabbed it and read it aloud.
"We want it back."
