A month had passed since they left the village they were trying to fix. Rain had not made much progress towards inner peace since she and Fa had their talk. But this night she was taking advice from her other mother, Luna.
"Sit, relax and let the moon shine on you, dear." Luna, Storm, and Rain sat out in the night desert sands. The moon was at her peak. Luna had known the as of the night after the girl told Fa of the girl's predicament and decided now was a good time to try and help. "If we had better moonlight before tonight I would have helped then, but tonight is the night to do this." She pointed one finger up at the moon. "That is the one thing my father trusted me most with." Its beautiful glow had become something of a friend to Rain over the past year. "That glorious wonder in the night sky is where I bowed my head every night gave to it my power left over from the day. I have given it enough power that it wouldn't need me there for thirty years, but I love it too much to be away for that long. She is my best friend and closest confidant, and she can be that for you. She and I are one and the same in truth. She was made from my very own power when I was born, just as the power of the sun was made when my brother was born. Yes, the moon is older than the sun." She looked down at her daughter. "Back then age was nothing though so they don't fight over it." Rain giggled at the remark. The idea of the sun and moon fighting was outlandish even for someone who had fought Horric hordes. "The love shown between the sun and the moon is the same as the love between my brother and I. We look out for each other as often as we can. I know if I ever need him he will be there. The peace that I get from knowing that is the core of the energy I share with the moon. If you let it the moon will share that with you as well. You are part of me, you are my daughter. Let the moon bathe you in its light and peace will come. Now meditate. I will be over here doing the same." Luna went and found her optimal place to meditate. Rain felt where she was already felt great. She felt the moon was directly over her. She saw how her mother was meditating and tried to replicate it. She sat on her knees and lowered her head. She sat unmoving for two hours before frustration boiled up in her. Letting out a large sigh she flopped back landing on Storm.
"Sorry boy. Didn't know you were there. You are so silent. Did you find inner peace before I did? Wait of course you didn't, you never lost it, to begin with, did you?" The warmth coming off of Storms's fur soothed her sore muscles. She pulled the cloak's hood up over her head and cuddled into Storm's side. She could feel the moonlight hitting her cheek still. She opened an eye and rolled over onto her back, her head still on Storms side, she let the moon wash over her pale skin. Like the times before a warmth took over her body. She could feel deep relief. This time it was stronger than before. She felt energy flowing through her and through Storm. Storm seemed to notice it as well. He lifted his head and looked down at the girl laying against him. The two of them started to connect. She could feel Storm like she felt the cloak now, and so could the cloak.
"What is happening? Are you safe little one?" The cloaks voices burst into her head disrupting the sense of peace she had gained.
"I don't know. I think it's Storm." The warmth and familiar sensation ran through her body. She could not hear any form of words from him, only emotions. Pure emotions. It felt like they were emotions that she could feel personally, her very own emotions, not emotions coming from Storm. Suddenly she felt something wet on her face. She opened her eyes and the feelings were gone. Instead, Storm towered over her licking her face continuously. He had never done this before. Rain wrapped her arms around the svern's huge muscular neck and hugged him tightly. Deep inside she felt the warmth again.
