"Where is he?" Hux grumbled to himself.

Kylo entered the base, not really paying attention to what was going on around him. He was still lost in thought about the events in the forest.

"Ren where were you? You're late!" Hux yelled, fuming.

"I... I was in the forest," he replied, still absent minded.

Hux stared at him for a long moment before saying: "remind me never to do that."

"Do what?" Kylo asked, confused. He hadn't really been paying much attention to what Hux had been saying.

"Go in the forest I don't want to look struck dumb when I come out," Hux replied.

Kylo nodded, still not paying attention.

Hux looked him up and down then he smirked evilly "the stormtroopers were taking your things in and they broke your table for calligraphy"

Kylo snapped out of his thoughts. "What?!" he asked. "Well, whoever broke it is going to have to pay for a new one."

"It's not really broken I just said that so you would stop staring into middle distance" Hux said.

Kylo shook his head and grumbled under his breath.

"Plus you have more money than anyone else in the First Order" Hux continued.

"Oh... I guess you're right," he answered.

"I am as usual" Hux said.

"Well, I hope that you're not right about someone breaking my writing table," he answered.

"Well, if you weren't daydreaming about a certain someone then I wouldn't have had to say that" Hux said frustrated

"I wasn't daydreaming. I was day... nightmaring. About my terrible life, about loosing my mother and everyone I care about, and I was trying to figure out what my grandfather wants me to do." He answered, unable to contain his frustration any longer. "And... 'A certain someone'? What does that supposed to mean?" Kylo asked, a bit sharply.

Hux turned to look at him calmly "Ren you clam not to feel, so if that was true your mother's death wouldn't matter to you, your grandfather wants you to take over the galaxy to finish what he started, and I can tell you've got a girl on your mind"

Kylo glared at him, though deep down he wished that he had been able to stop himself from speaking. "I can't stop loving my mother Hux, I tried. I'm not strong enough to just forget her, I don't expect you to understand, I've always had a connection to my mother through the Force, it's something that I will always feel. And I do not have a girl on my mind... this proves you're not always right Hux."

"You do have a girl on your mind and it's your mother" Hux replied "and don't forget Ren you're not the only one with a painful past in the First Order"

"Then why do I feel like the only one who is berated for it?" Kylo asked.

"Because you're our leader, you're supposed to be the strongest of all of us, everyone looks up to you and if you do it they think they can as well. We're supposed to be emotionless" Hux said looking at the floor.

Kylo looked at him for a moment. "Is something troubling you? You can tell me, I might be the Supreme Leader, but I'm not Snoke."

Hux turned to look at him sharply "NO, why would you think that?"

Kylo smirked. "You have a girl on your mind, I can tell." His smirk vanished and his gaze softened as he knew he was about to bring up a sensitive subject. "It's Phasma isn't it?"

"What? No absolutely not" Hux said.

Kylo looked at him doubtfully.

Blood dusted over his face in a blush "she was just a good Capitan" Hux said.

"Just?" he pressed.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Hux asked still blushing

"Just that you two were very close. It's okay to miss her Hux, it's only natural to miss someone who was constantly at your side," he answered.

"Why would I....she..wasn't always at my side" Hux said his blush growing more and more evident.

"Maybe not all of the time, but whenever she wasn't on a mission she was with you," he answered.

"Well, maybe but that doesn't mean I enjoyed her company" Hux replied.

Kylo gave him a doubtful look. "You didn't enjoy her company?" he asked. "Yet I never saw you object when she sat with you for lunch every day."

"Enough about me you went nuts over a droid" Hux pointed out.

"I did not! And what does that have to do with this conversation?" he asked.

"Nothing" Hux yelled.

Kylo looked at him puzzled. Then he realized that perhaps he had overstepped his bounds by mentioning Phasma, he hadn't intended to make him feel worse, he just wanted him to know that it was okay to miss someone. "Listen Hux, I know that you're upset about Phasma, and I just want you to know that it's okay to miss someone that you l... or uh.. care about. But she will always be with you, she's a part of the Force now... or at least that's what my uncle used to say."

Hux looked at him "but I don't have the force I can't feel things like you Ren like you said before you have a connection to people though the force that must be nice"

"You May not have the Force, Hux, but the Force is a part of everyone," he replied.

"Did your uncle say that too, because I thought you hated him" Hux snapped.

Kylo was slightly taken back. "No... as a force sensitive person I can feel the Force flowing in every living thing," he replied, a little sharply.

Hux opened his mouth to reply but was interrupted by a captain "General Uh second in command Hux we need you to catalogue the shipments" he said Hux turned to look at him "very well" the captain nodded and walked away "I have more important matters to attend to Supreme Leader," Hux said turning on his heels

"As do I," Kylo replied in a quiet voice, as he turned to leave.
