Ty set the alarm for 1:00 am.  He had his bag packed and set his phone to charge. He wondered if fire engines had cell phone chargers. Ty needed to leave by 3:30, but he wanted to find something in the lower meadow before he left. It was a 1 Kilometer walk with a flashlight. He also allocated a few minutes to have coffee with Jack. Even if Amy was furious with him, and his decisions, Jack still loved him, like a son. Ty's emotions needed time with Jack before he left. Last item on his list before leaving, was to sneak into Amy's bedroom, leave her a note, and ever so gently kiss Amy and Lyndy good bye!!

Ty's parents used to come and go, and never say hello or good bye. Not that it would have made much of a difference back then. But, Ty made some promises to himself hours before he married Amy. He had never discussed them with anyone; they were his decisions. One was that he would always say hello and good bye to his family. That included always kissing his wife good bye; Amy deserved no less from him. They were just little tokens of love and affection. In Ty's heart, little things were often big things.

He crawled into bed, it was 10:30. His mind immediately took him to Amy. He remembered last weekend; he & Amy, and Lyndy had spent the entire weekend together. It was a rare treat; 'family days' they called it; their first one. Ty suggested they make it a surprise weekend as well. He and Amy would plan a surprise for each other. Lyndy would get a present; because she loved opening presents.

The whole 'family days' idea sort of began with a 'walk in emergency' at Ty & Scott's clinic 6 weeks past. Walter Smith brought in his 8 year old daughter Emily, and her 2 year old kitty; Cinnamon. It seemed the kitty had a fondness for Lego's and swallowed 3 small pieces from Emily's, 'Princess Elsa's Magical Ice Palace'; about 2 months ago was the theory. The Smith's  regular veterinarian office did X-rays, and ultra sound tests, and Dr Tom Montell, a friend of Ty & Scott's gave Emily the devastating news that an abscess had grown around the little plastic pieces in Cinnamons small intestine; in the duodenum and was so close to the stomach, an entire section of intestine would need to be removed. Dr Tom was worried of complications from such a major surgery right next to the stomach. He offered one ray of hope to the Smith's: Dr Tyler Borden was trained in a non-invasive surgery on horses and might be willing to operate on a cat. Dr Ty had successfully preformed many surgeries in horses by inserting a surgical tube down the esophagus, called endoscopic surgery. Dr Tom consulted with Dr Ty; and it was decided Dr Ty would do an exam and decide If Cinnamon was a candidate for the surgery. Emily was quite distraught and shed a few tears that day.

Cinnamon had picked out Emily, at a neighbors house when she was a tiny kitten. Emily sat on the family room floor, & one little kitty immediately jumped into her lap, reached up and licked her nose. The two were inseparable ever since.

After the exam, Dr Ty said he was willing to try; explained the many risks, and let the family decide.  Emily and her dad opted to go ahead with surgery; they both liked Dr Ty's, patient , competent, and friendly demeanor. Dr Ty and Walter both helped Emily understand there was a fair chance, Cinnamon might not pull through the surgery. Dr Montell had told Walter, if anyone could help Cinnamon, it was Ty Borden. Dr Ty had one small favor to ask of Emily in return.

It seems 2 days ago Dr Cass found an old and abandoned Raggedy Ann doll on the front porch of the clinic. Dr Ty asked Emily if she would be willing to be a foster mom to the doll until the clinic could find her a permanent home. Emily had noticed a photo of the doll in the waiting room. Dr Cass said the dolls name was HollyAnn. Dr Cass brought HollyAnn into the exam room and Emily immediately agreed be her foster mum. Cinnamon's surgery went better than expected, 2 days later Emily and her dad, and HollyAnn returned to the clinic to pick her up. Emily and Cinnamon were ecstatic to see each other.
