Lyndy & Jackson
Chapter 10-21
'The Crossing'
By; mike hurleyAmy stepped onto the sandy beach of the river with about the same force as Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon. She walked away from the river; immediately un-coupled her chute harness and began gathering all the material and lines. Aggie taught her to get out of her harness immediately after landing. Her danger here could have been a sudden wind pulling the chute across the river; and dragging her into the water.
She checked on Wolverine and helped him out of his chute. She had no idea how or why her friend from her dreams was here with her, but she was not as lonely or scared as she might have been. Amy hugged her old friend; they had worked together to get through the carpet house. Wolverine was an amazing friend and reminded her of Ty. There were many similarities between them. Amy knew both Ty and Wolverine would dash into any situation, no matter the danger to help her. She wondered if Wolverine knew Ghost; they were both a little surreal and lived on the edge of another reality. She reminded herself to ask about his mom and if he had found her yet. Sadly, Amy had that in common with Wolverine, they both missed their moms.
Wolverine thanked Amy & dashed off into the woods to patrol the surrounding forest. He smelled wolves & often all it took was a little Wolverine pee on a tree to get them to leave. He told Amy to just holler if she needed him. Wolverine walked into the woods, then turned and looked again at his best friend. He realized everything in his life was just a little better when he was with Amy.
Amy looked across to the other shore. Ty was waving at her and yelling sometime. She saw Ghost in the forest behind Ty.Amy waved back, the river was so noisy, she wasn't sure what he was saying.
Amy watched Ty wade out into the river; she started yelling 'go back Ty!! No!!!! Go back!! It's a class 5 river!!!!! Too dangerous!! No!!
Go back please!! She was horrified he might try to cross the river. It appeared he was investigating the rivers strength, and thinking about crossing. She saw Ty take a step back. Then he slipped, fell and ended up in the little swirling pool. Amy had climbed up onto a 20 foot rock and watched her husband. She watched Ty disappear beneath the waves and be sucked down into a whirlpool. She stood up and screamed his name over and over.Amy scrambled higher up the boulder, it was hard to see in the dark. She pulled out one of her flashlights and managed to reach the top. Amy was almost 80 feet up above the ground. She aimed her light at the whirlpool Ty was sucked down into and yelled his name louder than she had ever screamed before. Her vocal cords were burning; she kept screaming his name.
Bart was searching desperately for a way to drive through the ever thickening birch trees. Finally he stopped, got out and walked ahead into the forest about 25 feet. He searched with his portable spotlight for a path big enough for the long but narrow Polaris. He heard something not of the forest and froze & listened. There it was again, a woman's voice screaming!! WTH he wondered, it had to be Amy & something was wrong!!! He quickly returned to the Polaris and called Clive.
Clive was having a late dinner and heard Barts name on the intercom, he got up from the table and ran into the hall, grabbed the phone and asked Terrin to patch Bart through. Hello!! Clive said, what's the latest Bart?? Did you find the girl!! Clive!! Please promise me.....don't tell Kyle!! Dude, if Kyle finds out what I just did he's going to kick my ass!!
Clive had never seen Bart upset or scared. What's wrong Bart??!!! Were in Amy's vicinity & searching for her. Thick trees near a river, real slow, I let Ty run east to the river and try to find her. All he had was a Mag Light and one of the small portable radios. I can't raise him on the radio and I hear Amy screaming his name!!
Clive! Can you ping his radio and try to find hers?? I need to talk to them. I'm taking the 9-1B spotlight, the big portable radio, emergency kit, and whatever else I can carry. I'm going to run to the river and find out what's wrong. Clive was running up to the control room; the former geek and video game nerd could work magic with anything electronic.
