Chapter 15
By; mike hurley

'Delores came up first, all excited but a little shy. She said; hi, I'm Delores. Do you remember me'??

Amy was restless, it was 3:30 am & she tossed & turned, & threw her pillow on the floor. She cried quietly, but it wasn't helping. Finally she sat up & screamed. Her fists punched the mattress, tears ran down her cheeks. Then she felt soft hands slide under her & pick her up. It was dark but Amy smiled through her tears. She knew who held her.

Amy's grandma Lyndy had soft hands, and a sweet & loving voice. In fact everything was soft about Grandma Lyndy. What's wrong honey, were you having a dream!! Maybe you miss your mum?? The horse show in Montana ends tomorrow. She'll be home soon....I promise!!

Amy felt her grandmas hand on her forehead. There we found the problem!! Amy you're running a temp. Let's get you some apple juice & medicine, ok!! Then grandma will tell you a story. Lyndy wiped away Amy's tears & Amy kissed her grandmas cheek. Oh, sweetie!! What a nice kiss!! You're kisses are as sweet as honey, yes they are!!

They looked out the kitchen window at the barn. Look!! Charlie & the other horses are sound asleep!! Do horses snore Amy?? Amy smiled & laughed and said; silly!! You're silly Gamma!! Grandma tickled Amy's tummy & held the glass while Amy drank more juice.

Honey, what if we go out to the barn & we'll tell Charlie a story!! He loves stories!! Will you help me tell Charlie a story?? Amy shook her head yes & grandma wiped away a tear hiding under Amy's little nose. Lyndys long black hair wrapped around Amy, keeping her warm. In a moment Amy wrapped her arms around Charlie & kissed his face. Amy, can you ask Charlie what story he wants to hear?? Amy whispered into Charlie's ear as her Grandma held her. Then put her ear close to his nose & smiled. Butterfly Gamma!! Charlie......butterfly!!

Grandma Lyndy began telling Amy & Charlie a beautiful story of a butterfly and a frog who were best friends. They had lunch together everyday in the upper wildflower meadow, under a tall ash tree next to Slippery Creek. The butterfly was dressed in a beautiful spring jacket of every color imaginable. She was a girl butterfly & her name was Ruby. Her friend the frog was green and wore a black hat, which he took off during lunch. His name was Theodore. He let Ruby call him Theo.
One day while Ruby & Theo were eating, a...............

.........Soon Amy was sound asleep in her Grandmother's arms. Lyndy gave Charlie a kiss good night & thanked him for helping Amy fall asleep. She laid Amy back into bed, & pulled up the blanket. Lyndy kissed Amy's forehead then sat a few minutes to be certain Amy was ok. Lyndy thought of her mother Louise and how comforting & caring she was when Lyndy & her 2 sisters were sick. She looked out the bedroom window into the Stars and remembered the pretty stories about butterflies & frogs her mum told when Lyndy was a wee little girl. Good night mom, Lyndy said to the Stars, then kissed Amy again & slid back into bed, snuggling next to Jack.

She whispered 'I love you' into his ear and laid awake for over an hour listening, in case Amy cried.

Amy woke & looked at the clock, it was 3:30 am. A sound had woken her, she sat up & looked at Lyndys crib, she saw her pillow on the floor & got up out of bed. What's wrong Lyndy, Amy whispered as she gently picked her daughter up. Lyndy was crying & felt warm. Amy wiped away tears as Lyndy snuggled into her mum's breasts; They were warm, soft, and comforting. You feel warm....you're running a temp sweetheart.
Let's get you some apple juice & medicine!!

In a minute Amy sat in the rocker by the window & rocked her daughter. Minutes later, Little Lyndy was still awake, curling her mums blond hair in her fingers. She looked up at Amy & whispered, butterfly!! Butterfly mommy!!
