Lyndy & Jackson
Chapter 10-30 / Amy!!!!!
By; mike HurleyA nearby clap of thunder woke Amy just a little. She was on a steam locomotive traveling north to look for Mallory in an Alaskan forest. It was very cold. The train roared through a narrow & deep tunnel of snow. A great Northern owl lay on a pillow next to her. His powerful eyes were closed, he was sound asleep. His snore sounded like a drunk cricket, stuck in a soda bottle.
Next to her on the long wooden bench was her picnic basket with 4 sandwiches, 5 packages of rubber bands, 2 bagels, 7 watermelons, 2 cups of coffee in fine china, a set of pipe wrenches and 2 quarts of orange juice. The steady drumbeat of the locomotives reciprocating pistons grew louder and louder, as The Conductor opened the door and walked in. Amy caught a glimpse of Jake shoveling coal into the firebox. He had a shovel in each hand. The conductor wore a 1898 Nelson Lake rodeo buckle and cowboy boots with a purple Texan 10 gallon hat. He asked Amy for her ticket and where she was going. The beating noise was steady but so loud she had no idea what he asked. She smiled and handed him a watermelon, hoping he was hungry. Giving a man food usually improved his mood.
Suddenly another louder and closer clap of thunder shook the bed, and woke Amy up. She was curled up on top of Ty, she could hear his steady heartbeat in her right ear. She opened her eyes and saw their new list of marriage strengthening ideas on the night stand. She lay perfectly still and felt the nice warmth rising from Ty's body. Ty raised her up and down as his lungs methodically exchanged: o2, and CO2. This was one of Amy's most favorite places, all warm, safe, and loved. Ty's arm wrapped around her waist and her feet were curled up with his. She felt his morning wood against her back, and glanced at the clock.....5:45. She slowly got up so as not to disturb the man who gave her a promise ring years ago along a narrow country road. She leaned down and kissed the spot on Ty's chest where her head had been; she smiled and saw the faint outline of her ear pressed into his skin. She looked at him for a moment. He was just as handsome as when he asked her to marry him. Amy held his wood down, as she pulled the sheet up over him. He moaned slightly and murmured; 'Amy!! Shift into 3rd!! She smiled and whispered into his ear; I love you too!! She giggled and figured he must be teaching her to drive all over again!! She whispered into his other ear; 'Amy is an excellent driver'!!
She heard the rain come, it whipped against the windows in a strange melody only nature understood. She saw her phone light up; a group text from Kyle just arrived; .........'Good morning everyone'. A brief rain is forecast this morning, followed by some high winds. Not enough to help the fires. It's Sunday morning, let's sleep in and catch our collective breath. A well deserved break. Meeting at 11:00 in the Ranch House basement auditorium.
Some guests arrived outback at 3:25 A.M. while we were sleeping; 25 of our brothers from France parachuted in to help us. I believe; Sapeur Pompier is French for Fire Fighter. They will be joining us for breakfast. Please welcome them!! Hopefully, we can head out of here tonight by 11:00 pm. Thank you for all your hard work. Mrs Miller and volunteers are making omelets starting at 9:30. Thanks to our good Doctor; ......Henry has slept well the entire night. Augusta is strictly enforcing the 2 visitors at a time rule. Btw, she is a 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo!!
"bonjour à tous."
Kyle, (& Henry). For some unknown reason, Amy was hungry for waffles and orange juice. She slipped on some clothes and her jump jacket and walked down to the kitchen. She heard the rain stop.
She couldn't find any sign of waffles or a mix to make some. She looked in the fridge and pulled out a slice of watermelon. Augusta walked in, rubbed her eyes and said good morning Amy!! Watermelon for breakfast?? Augusta asked with a smile. Amy laughed and replied; it looked good, I haven't had watermelon in a month!!I haven't had much time to chat with you Amy, but I wanted to say thanks for what you and Dr Ty did to help Henry!! He's like a dad to all of us and we are so relieved he's ok!!
From the moment that metal piece slammed into him, well it's been crazy around here. I'm not really a chatterbox but for some reason I am this morning!!
