Amy looked out the window, just as she got a text. It was from Brenda. Amy smiled and read: 'Amy, would you be my Maid of Honor?? Amy typed back; OMG, seriously???
Brenda replied: 'yes, very seriously'!! 🤗
Amy wrote: absolutely!! ❤️ It would be an honor!!

Chapter 18.....

Amy was eating a bran & flax seed, apple muffin with hummus when Brenda sat down with her breakfast tray. Brenda wore a smile that wouldn't quit. Amy giggled and said; ......what????  He called me at 2:45; I was in the middle of a dream where I was flying 100 feet above the surface of the moon in a Coast Guard Chinook & the pilot kept saying jump, jump!! But I was like, hell dude!! There's no water!! Then my cell rang. It was Adam. I'm like OMG!! Adam!! Are you ok?! Then he says....I had my suitcase all packed, I called my boss and said I had a family emergency; I need off for the rest of the week. His boss is like; you've worked here 8 years and have never taken a personal day!! Are you ok!! He tells his boss I called him and proposed marriage!! Omg!!

So, I ask Adam if he's ok?? He says I don't know!! I think I was hallucinating that you called and wanted to marry me. I said to him, that's right, I marry you anywhere and anytime, and I'll be the mother of your children. There was silence on the other end of the line. He finally says; what if one of our children calls you mom?? I said; Adam!! It's ok, I will have your children and they can call me mommy, and I will love them to the ends of the world. For one reason.......YOU!! Adam I love you!! And I will love OUR children!!

Amy!! He started crying!! Omg!! My big masculine guy who crushes Pepsi cans flat with one hand, is crying!! He took 3 bullets in Afghanistan & got stabbed. The medic worked on his knife wound, cleaned it out, stitched it up and his buddy said Adam dozed off while they were stitching his arm up. Adam is tougher than nails & I hear him sobbing at 2:45 am!! One minute an insane pilot wants me to jump onto the moon and a minute later another man is sobbing in my ear!!

Adam is crying on the phone because I agreed to marry him!!! What is that all about??  Amy smiled and said; it's ok Brenda, guys carry a ton of emotions around inside them, & usually no one knows. But Adams emotions and joy were so large, he couldn't keep them inside any more. Brenda, always remember that phone call and treasure it. You just saw an actual display of how deep Adams love is for you. It's good!! It's all good Brenda!!

Do you have a jewelry box?? Amy asked her friend. Brenda said no. I'm not into jewelry. Amy lowered her voice and said; Brenda, trust me, buy a jewelry box. Pick a drawer for the most valuable jewelry you will ever get, only the most special. Write down what you just told me and put the note in that drawer and treasure that memory all your life. This morning Adam gave you something very, very precious!! The only thing you will ever have that is more precious, .......are your children.
Treasure his tears forever!!

Amy and Brenda had become best friends in just a couple days. Like Army buddies who help each other in and out of the trenches. They learned to rely on and trust each other. Very different young women, but very similar in their passion for their families and their work. For the rest of their lives, Amy and Brenda would always be there for one another.

Amy got a tear in her eye and said; Brenda, I have to go.......and jump onto a Navy ship in Lake Michigan. They both stood up and Brenda said; God!! I will miss you Amy from Alberta!!
The times for words were over, the best friends hugged each other for a long time. Finally, Amy jotted down her address, handed it to Brenda, and said; for your wedding invitation!!
Soon I hope. Brenda shook her head yes and was holding back tears. They said good by; & Amy said; text me every day!! Brenda gave Amy one more quick hug and said; please be careful, kick some ass, and find Ty!!
