Chapter 8. By: Mike Hurley

'Marion Fleming'

Ty finished his last patient follow up call. He wished John Jacobson a good weekend. John's horse Sherman had a bad bout of colic. Ty recommended mineral oil as a laxative, pain killers, and for John to walk Sherman 4 times a day.  Colic can quickly progress into a deadly condition for a horse. Ty was happy to learn Sherman was feeling better.  Evidently Sherman pulled a carrot out of the farriers back pocket as she walked by. Ty decided Sherman's carrot antics were a sure sign he was feeling better.

Amy was running the conversation with her grandfather through her mind again. She was still trying to figure out a plan of how to reach Ty when he occasionally became withdrawn and sullen.  Ty could disappear into himself  after a difficult experience with an animal. She was Ty's wife and best friend & it hurt her feelings when Ty would block her out and not confide in her.  She knew many men had this type of behavior, and Ty's mom told Amy, Borden men had issues shutting others out and bottling feelings inside.

Amy treated her marriage to Ty with the exact same devotion and attention she did with all the other aspects of her life.  She was just as tenacious with her marriage as she was helping a frightened horse.  She remembered all too well their past issues with Blair, and Chase.  Amy almost lost Ty, after working for the prince.  She had 2 chapters in her young life that were dark with sadness and despair.  The death of her mother, and the seemingly endless break she and Ty took after he punched the Prince in front of the ranch house. In her heart, Amy knew there was no other man on the planet for her except, Tyler Borden. She adored him and always would.  Amy knew how hard marriage could be, after watching Lou and Peter. She promised herself she would always make Ty the most important person in her life. She would work constantly to keep their spark alive.

Last week Lou told Amy, she worried too much about Ty and their marriage. Lou suggested just giving Ty space. Amy loved her sister dearly, but was beginning to be skeptical of Lou's marital advice. Amy's bottom line, was she loved Ty, he was the most important person in her life.  She would not let this rest until she found a way to get into Ty's head when he shut her out. She needed a plan, but first she needed her grandfather to tell her what he was hiding from her. She could see in his eyes, grandpa had more to tell her; but was keeping it locked away.  Men!!  Amy exclaimed under her breath as she squeezed the steering wheel in frustration. She loved Ty, her dad, and her grandfather. But they quite often confounded her, tried her patience, made no sense, and basically drove her crazy. Ty closed his briefcase, slipped his hand over Amy's, leaned over and kissed her cheek.  Amy??  Are you all right you seem a little tense. He noticed her left hand had turned white, gripping the steering wheel.

Amy decided she needed to clear her mind, she would tackle Ty's issue of shutting her out a different way this time. Confronting him with it, just hurt his feelings, made him disappointed in himself, and might end up in an argument. This was their day together, yes a working day. But they were working as partners; for them a very old, but very special dream. She would stay happy and positive for Ty, she so loved, how he loved her, and made her feel like a princess.  He was so protective of her. Amy laughed to herself, as she thought if anyone ever kidnapped her; Ty would beat up 20 men to save her.

Oh, I'm fine Ty!!  Amy squeezed his hand. What were you thinking about Amy, he asked. Actually she did have a surprise planned for Ty tonight. She would keep that a secret!  Ty, I was just thinking how much I love you!! Ty always lit up when she used those words. Ever since the fishing cabin, the morning after she stayed up late taking care of him, & she first told Ty that she loved him. To Ty, those 3 little words from Amy, were the sweetest 3 words he would ever hear. Amy would never fully understand what her love meant to Ty. With his background as a troubled youth, Amy's love for him, was like what water is to a tree.
