Lyndy & JacksonChapter 10-17
By; mike hurleyAmy ran her hands over his face & neck. She said; hello boy, how are you?? Is everything all right?? Ghost......is Ty ok?? I miss him terribly; you know I love him don't you??
Jen listened as Ty introduced himself, told her his credentials as a vet and a Critical Care Paramedic. Jen was impressed, Ty had quite a resume. He gave Jen the long list of his findings with Henry, from basic pulse and blood pressure readings to his diagnosis during the abdominal exam. 3 main organs had been damaged; spleen, liver, and small intestine. Ty believed all were intact but were bleeding, he felt abrasions, and probable bruising to each. In theory, these organs should heal, but in the time it would take for a full recovery the constant bleeding and organ trauma was weakening the bodies recovery mechanisms. A downward spiral seemed eminent. Ty knew each day they delayed surgery, further reduced Henry's chances. Ty had preformed many surgeries involving organ damage on animals. While some were similar, there were distinct differences between a human and an animal.
Jen agreed with the diagnosis and prognosis.
They discussed Ty doing the surgery and Jen assisting by camera and / or voice connection.
Jen told Ty it had to be his call. He was the Doc on site, he could see and monitor the patient. Kyle apprised Jen on North American Fire Command (NAFC), and efforts to bring in a surgeon.Jen and Ty had a surprise when Jen mentioned her uncle was a Regional Crisis Director for NAFC. Ty was shocked when he figured out Jen was talking about Jim. They visited for a moment about their family connections to each other. Jen remembered meeting Amy at Millie & Jim's house many years ago, and horseback riding once at Heartland Ranch. They wrapped the call up and phone numbers were exchanged. Kyle spoke with each HAM operator and thanked them for 'helping the Fire Department'.
Jen had one last thing she wanted to add. She told Ty she understood he was at a disadvantage in being a vet and not a medical doctor. But she assured him the skills he used to probe Henry's abdominal cavity and his other diagnosis were as good as any medical doctor there was. Jen called Ty an amazing doctor. The called ended, and everyone in the room looked at Ty and acknowledged they were lucky he was the vet who volunteered to join their mission. Kyle put his hand on Ty's shoulder and said 'we are all in your debt, Dr Borden'. Ty was a little embarrassed; he was just doing what he was trained to do. But Ty was gracious and simply said; thank you.

Amy approached Ghost slowly; she was shocked when he started walking out to her. She stopped & Ghost walked right up to Amy and nuzzled her; then wrapped his neck around her. Amy had no idea how to react; this mysterious friend of Ty's had always un-settled her, & had never been affectionate. Amy ran her hands over his face & neck. She said; hello boy, how are you?? Is everything all right?? Ghost......is Ty ok?? I miss him terribly; you know I love him don't you?? Amy leaned her forehead against him and stared at the ground. She noticed the horse had burn marks on his hooves. She ran her fingers down his front left leg. It was warm like he had run a great distance. Why did you come Ghost?? I don't understand. She buried her nose into his neck and inhaled, then coughed. He smelled of smoke.
Ghost, thank you for protecting me in my dream. You took me to Ty's old home. I have no idea how you found it.
She looked into his eye again and said, thank you for watching out for him. Ty loves you Ghost, he always has, ever since you two met. Ghost whinnied and shook his head up and down almost like he agreed with her.
Ghost enjoyed her gentle touch. He could tell she was a very strong and resilient woman, kind and caring too. Ghost looked deep into Amys eyes, even deeper than he could see. He gently smelled her and confirmed his suspicions; she had traits of a caretaker too, just like him. He now understood why Ty loved her. He smelled her shirt, and smelled traces of Ty, and of their child. Ghost knew she was the caretaker of her family.
