Chapter 10-10
Ty wondered how Amy would respond to his text. Over the years, he had sent her lots of 'I love you' messages. He and Amy had come a long way together, through break ups, tears, and sleepless nights. But Ty felt, the last few years, he and Amy had figured everything out. Their relationship came first, for both of them. He thought of all the little ways, Amy made him feel special. She smiled at him so much, wrapped her arms around him many times during the day. Almost every day, he would be talking to a client on the phone & he would feel Amy's arms wrap around his chest, then a kiss on his neck and a quiet 'I love you' whispered in his ear'. She constantly reminded him, how very special he was to her. Often, after Lyndy went to bed, Amy would change into a tiny pair of shorts and a top that left nothing to Ty's imagination. She knew how much Ty needed and enjoyed her body. After the lights went out Amy knew exactly how to satisfy him. Which in turn fueled Ty's desire to treat Amy like a princess, and satisfy her every need too.
Even when he arrived home from the Animal Hospital and Amy was teaching one of her horse clinics with 10 students. She would suggest a 5 minute break and make a bee line for Ty. Greeting him with a passionate kiss as he stepped out of his truck.
Now, all of that was gone, like a marshmallow consumed in a fire. One minute her love was there, a moment later, it disappeared. Ty did not understand, how Amy could turn her back on him. He resented the way Amy treated him. How does someone change so suddenly. He stared out the window as they drove past an elementary school. Kids were running around a playground, having fun and laughing. For a second he saw Lyndy, 8 years old and in the corner by herself, trying to figure out why her parents disliked each other so. Ty remembered his childhood; even during the few happy moments, dark clouds always floated nearby. Years ago, when Amy asked him if he wanted kids someday, he said yes. Children who would be a product of their love, and could grow up in a home, free of constant storm clouds full of anger, resentment, and yelling. Now, Ty was afraid for Lyndy. He trembled in fear that her childhood would bear some resemblance to his.
In all of Ty's reflecting in the last few days, he was over thinking what had happened. Thoughts of his childhood, how he disappointed Amy, her anger, and Lyndy's years ahead were merging together in his head. A swirling cloud of emotions, pulled him into a whirlpool of despair. Some thoughts that entered his mind made no sense.
Ty was alone and drifting out to sea. A sea of despondency, and tears. Those tears had pulled him far off course, onto a path that Amy feared. He opened his backpack, pulled out his copy of their wedding photo. He looked at Amy, then crumpled the photo into a crinkled mess; a reflection of his state of mind.

Amy spent a few minutes, looking around inside the Chinook. She marveled at the engineers who built such an incredible machine. She watched the many gauges and meters in front of her. Turbine RPM, temperature, blade pitch, lift velocity, KPH, altitude, radar, elevation, and dozens more. Her eyes stopped on the green radar display. She saw the pilot point to the little cluster of 5 blips, the co-pilot tapped on the cluster. An adjacent display identified them as 5 British Tornado fighter Jets leaving Cold Base and headed to California. Amy thought of Ty. She wished he would appear on the display, she could tap on his image, and the status of his heart would pop up. She needed to know how badly she hurt him. Had he cried more, did he miss her, and most importantly, did Ty still love her. She stared at the little cluster quickly nearing their position; her thoughts were still on Ty; she loved being married to him. Ty made her feel so special every day.
