Ty felt he now completely understood what Jack had been trying to teach him for years: what it meant to be a man; ......strong and powerful, yet gentle and kind.
Amy was so happy, her head rested on his chest, she wished she could purr. Tonight, Ty made her feel like a woman.
Chapter 10-12......
Jack was in the barn, saddling up Harley; Harley stared at the apple & 2 carrots on the tack box. He really loved apples!! There was nothing better in Harley's world than apples. He thought about how every bite exploded tart juice that filled his mouth, and ran down his chin.
The wind saw Harley standing in the barn & blew in some crisp mountain air, that moments ago swirled around an aspen grove in the upper meadow. It carried lively scents of wildflowers, lavender, mint and fresh honey from the wild beehive in the old oak tree. Harley raised his head and inhaled all the lovely smells. He loved walking though the upper meadow. It was the loveliest place in Harley's world. Harley thought for a minute and realized there was one thing better than apples. Just one.......Being with those he loved; Ty, Amy, and Spartan. The four of them walking through the upper wildflower meadow and looking for that perfect spot for a summer picnic. Ty and Amy would do what young couples in love do. But he and Spartan would be in heaven; eating tender clover, and fresh grasses. Then after the picnic, the four of them would share apples together; it was wonderful!!
Harley missed Ty, and wondered when his friend would come see him next. Jack was fussing over Harley, a good brush, some snacks, his frogs cleaned out, his eyes and ears washed up. Harley nuzzled Jack, he loved Jack too. Soon they were off, out to fix fence lines for the day. Harley had never helped fix fence lines before; but Jack was missing Ty and worried about him. Jack figured he and Ty's very good friend Harley would both enjoy some time together. Fix some fence wire and worry about Ty together.
In a little while, the two friends of Ty, crossed the lower wildflower meadow. Jack always thought of Lyndy every time he passed through the meadow; always. She loved flowers and made many trips out here, picking her favorites, and sat watching the honey bees as they sang their bee song to the flowers and drank of their nectars. Lyndy loved this place. Jack thought of how they had said good bye after their first fight. He went into say good bye, and 2 hours later he drove off to the next week of rodeo's.....
.......Late afternoon, Lyndy was putting some of her things away in our bedroom. I carried my bags out to the truck, then went back into our bedroom to somehow say good by. Lyndy was standing next to the bed with a red wildflower in her hair. All she had on, was my favorite red flannel shirt. I closed the bedroom door, picked her up and kissed her. She started unbuttoning her shirt.......
Jack smiled, then thought of when he arrived home a week later. He had sectioned off a little plot next to house to plant rhubarb and raspberries. He stepped out of his truck and saw Lyndy planting flowers in his plot, she had filled it with perennials and annuals. He stopped and stared, he could taste the rhubarb pie and raspberry jam his grandma Lois used to make. His heart sank. Just then Lyndy turned, smiled, got up and ran to him. She jumped into his arms, crying she was so happy to see him. She kissed him in front of the Ranch house for 5 minutes, then took his hand, led him to her new flower garden and asked what he thought. Jack replied; looks great!! But what's it for! It's my 'Celebration Flower Garden', Lyndy proudly announced. Jack now had a puzzled look and asked; what are we celebrating?? Everything that we should be thankful for, you know, all the good things in our lives. Replied Lyndy. She stood holding his hand, wearing a huge smile, and waiting for Jack to be excited too.
