I was currently walking by the road, thinking about last night. The sound of crunching leaves were audible. Like my soul, the leaves under my feet crushed and crumbled like a paper every time I moved my feet. And now , it feels like nothing is left to feel. No soul, just void from inside. The rhythmic click of my shoes on the dusty road started to made me feel more uncomfortable. It was already noon but I still kept walking. Th sun  rays didn't help anymore as it was the beginning of winter. Snowfall will start in a few days and the air already seems icy.

Slowly, I reached towards my destination. The two storied house stood proudely amongst the green wood. Now it belongs to someone else, someone I don't know. Somwhere in the past, this mansion was used to be my home. All my memories are still stored in that house. Taking a gulp of air, I took unwilling steps toward that house. My heart painfully throbbed against my ribcage. My fingers touched the cold metal as they pushed it forward. Soft sounds rang into my ear as I waited for the ebony door to be opened.

My breath hitched , when the door slowly creaked in front of me. A petite woman in her mid thirties stood there with an warm smile.

She  was beautiful and elegant. The lady of the house. The red expensive ruby ring on her fourth finger indicated that she was married.

"Hello, how can I help you?" Her voice was comforting and sweet.

Licking my dried lips, I tried to form appropriate words.

"I-I am the dauther of Emilly Winston. Umm, I left some stuff before we moved out. So, can you please return them?" Unconsciously, I gripped my sweater tightly, silently hoping that she would understand me.

"Oh, those things? No need to worry. I kept them safely. Please come inside, I'm bringing them in a second." She motioned me to come and I followed her without any hesitation.

Maid and workers bustled around the enormous house as everyone seemed busy in their work.

And some old memories came back....

"Daddy! Daddy! Catch me if you can!"

"Oh, my little princess, I'm coming for you!"

I took steady steps towards the wooden stairs, my hand hold the railing tightly.

"Daddy! I can jump from the fifth stair!"

"Casie don't jump! You gonna hurt yourself!"

"Daddy help me! My knee hurts!"

"Shh, it's okay. You just got a little scrape. And promise me you wont do that again."

"I-I promise."

"I promise."

'Huh, did you say anything?"

I quietly shook my head.

"So where do you live now?" She asked.

"Oh, I live on the neighborhood. "

"Do you have any relative there?"

"No, I work there. So they are letting me stay there." I said.

Her eyes widened in shock but she covered it immediately. It's funny right? A few years ago I was literally living like a princess and now look at me, I don't even have a house to live on. Debt is a bad thing. It can do things worst than you can imagine.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were going with your mother."

"Umm, I have school so I had to stay here. But's its okay. Because mom is a close friend of the owner, so they treat me like their family." I answered.

We stopped in front of our room. She softly opened the purple door. The sun rays from the window lightly fell on my face. A warm feeling developed in my body, making me feel a bit thrilled.

"You mean the Xander Mansion?" She looked at me with curiosity visible on her round eyes.

"Yes, that's what they call it."

Hurriedly, she took out my belongings from the brown cabinet and placed them in front of me.

"I've heard that one of their sons is just living their."

I looked at her with glinting eyes. Did she said one of their sons?

"Umm yes, it's true. Mrs. And Mr. Xander have shifted to another city during to some business matters, so it's just leaves the responsibility on their son."

"Oh, so what's his name?" She asked while helping me in carrying my luggage.

I looked at her cautiously. She doesn't knows his name? Well everyone knows the infamous Travis Xander.

"I-I mean I'm new here so, I don't know everyone yet." She was a bit embarrassed.

"His name is Travis Xander."

"So he is Travis Xander? I heard his best friend died last year? Is that true?"

Tears started to sting the back of my eyes as I stared at her without exhaling my breath.

"Yes its true."

She became distraught when she came to know that what she heard wasn't a made up story.

"Oh, I am sorry. But I also heard that there were no body on his grave."

My eyes shot up towards her, my mind spinning in thousand questions.

"What are you saying?"

" I don't know dear, it also could be a lie."

I didn't know what was I feeling. Was it a tint of hope of getting my friend back? Or was it fear for some thing big that will only bring more misery in our miserable life.

"Oh, well thank you for helping me out." I said gratefully. Really, if she didn't keep them, then I would be helpless right now.

"Oh, it's nothing! Please stay for a while. I shall serve you some drinks." She requested.

"Thank you but not today. Maybe next time. I have to go now."  I said as both of us descended from the flight of stairs.

"Okay, whatever you say." She sadly said.

"Bye." I waved at her. Before exiting the door, I stared at that house for the last time.  Because foe the last time, I am staring at my dad, my mom and the little me. For the last time, I am looking at that place, where my heart will be stuck forever.

Bye....

My home.
