“Umm.. T-Travis.. Weren’t you home?” I laughed nervously and cringed immediately at how faked it sound.

He did not say anything as his eyes were trained on the audience in front of us. I mean, Tyler, Ad and Melissa. The trio was peaking from the car, curiosity sparkling in their cattish eyes.

“You guys go. We’ll also head off soon..” His deep voice rumbled. And it wasn’t a request.

Tyler nodded.  “Okay. Don’t be late.” He smirked and started the engine.

And I just gaped like a fish. “HEY! That wasn’t the plan! You! You guys can’t leave me like this!” I yelled.

But it was too late. The car was already gone from our sight.

His hold on my wrist tightened but not enough to hurt me. He didn’t utter anything as he dragged me with him. I didn’t protest and continued to walk with him.

Our journey towards the school’s parking lot was silent. His expression was neutral as every ounce of emotion was hidden under a stoic façade. His blue eyes seemed icy and distant.

I immediately felt a sense déjà vu. It reminded me of those cold memories where he thought I was responsible for something terrible. His desire for destroying me was visible on those orbs. But I think that changed here.

He halted in front of his car, his face hidden from my view. I bit my lips as I tried to find words to explain myself.

“Travis I-..”

My next words died in my mouth as I found myself stuck between him and the hood of the car. I blinked a few times so that I could understand what just happened. I was standing still just a few breaths ago.

His lightning fast speed caught me off guard. His both hands were on the both side of my head, his body so close to mine that we were inhaling and exhaling the same air.

I stared down as I was scared to stare on those electric blue eyes. His heavy breath fell on my cheeks. My heart thudded against my chest in a wild manner.

“Look at me.” His low voice reached my ears.

I closed my eyes.

“Casie.” The way my name rolled of his tongue sent shivers down my spine.

His one hand reached towards my fisted one. He took my smaller one and tugged it upwards. I gasped when he lifted his shirt and placed my hand under it.

My hand came in contact with a warm rough skin. I could feel the outlined of  stitches and a swollen skin with a rough, tattered surface.

Memories of a certain nightmare flashed before me as my lips wobbled. My eyes stung with tears as I finally met those blue pools.

“Travis-..”

“I didn’t take that bullet so that you could just skip around and get yourself killed.  I could’ve died Casie. And your childish behaviors would only bring trouble and pain.”

“I..I’m sorry but..:

“I know you are doing this for Mason. But you have to know that we are here for you. You have to know that your friends got your back and they are willing to anything for you as you are willing to do anything to do for them.”

His every word hit me in the gut. I’ve just realized that what I was trying to would endanger not only me but also others. I should’ve discussed this matter with everyone.

“Travis.” I murmured, feeling guilty. “I’m sorry.”  And snaked my arms around his neck. My head rested on his shoulder as I was emotionally exhausted to say anything.  He sighed and placed his hands on my waist and hugged me tighter.
