Nineteen

Chloe smiled as Graham brought Esmè into her room. Esmè was asleep. "I take it you both had fun?" She asked as she took her baby from Graham.

"She had fun."

Chloe smiled and held her close. She kissed the top of her head. She knew Esmè adored Graham and it's what gave her a little hope that one day they could be a family.

Chloe laid Esmè in the cot and sighed. She looked at Graham. "She means everything to me. I'd die before I let anyone hurt her."

"I know. That's what makes you an amazing mother."

Chloe smiled slightly. "Maybe you and Rhona could adopt or hire a surrogate if you both want a baby," she told him.

Graham shook his head. "No. I'm happy to have Esmè. Rhona understands that," he said.

Chloe went downstairs the next morning. She saw Kim and Scarlett. Kim had Esmè sitting on her lap. Chloe smiled slightly. "I didn't hear her wake up," she said.

"You were snoring," Scarlett said as she handed her sister some coffee. She smiled. "You weren't really. She woke up in the night and somehow escaped her cot so she went in with daddy."

Chloe nodded and smiled slightly. She sat down and took Esmè from Kim. Esmè babbled. Chloe sighed. "She really climbed the cot and opened the door?" She asked.

Scarlett smiled and nodded. "Crafty little madam you have."

Kim had gone out and Scarlett was with Cain. The two of them had taken Esmè to the park with Kyle and Isaac. Chloe looked up as Graham walked in. "I suppose I should say thank you. For helping Esmè last night. I didn't hear her wake up at all," she said.

"It's okay. I see she isn't around."

Chloe smiled. "She's with Scarlett and Cain and his two boys."

Graham sat down with Chloe. He looked at her and placed a hand on her thigh. "You will always be special to me. You're Esmè's mother."

"Why do I get the feeling you're going to tell me something I don't think I wanna hear?" She asked.

Graham sighed. "Rhona wants to move to France. She wants me to go with her," he admitted.

Chloe felt as though she had been stabbed in the heart. He was leaving her. Chloe nodded and stood up. "I hope you're happy. You deserve it."

Graham took hold of her waist and pulled her close. He looked at her. "You're special to me Chloe. I love you."

Chloe was trying to not cry. "If that were true, you wouldn't be leaving me behind and going to shack up in France. I don't think you ever wanted me," she mumbled.

Graham pulled her closer if it were possible and kissed her. She kissed back. It soon turned into something heated and passionate.

Chloe was in bed with Graham. She looked at him. "What was the point in this? To show me what I'll miss?" She asked.

"To show you that no matter what. You will always be the one who changed me."

Chloe felt the tears rolling down her cheeks. She looked at him and kissed him again. But she had no idea that everything was going to come crashing down. All because someone wanted Graham dead.
