Trying to Stay Calm (Part 2)

*Megatron's POV*

Megatron looks down at the three-legged cat curled up in his lap. "Why did you start working here?"

"Animals deserve as much of a chance as humans do. Just because they don't have a voice like we do, doesn't mean we can ignore their means. I come here every day so that all the animals are used to human interaction so that they have the best chance of being adopted." She pets one of the cats that has decided to curl up on her right shoulder, even though it only managed to get its top half of its body on her shoulder. "Besides all the animals here know that there will be someone here to love them."

"So someone returned an animal here?"

"Yes and I wasn't to happy about it. A family that had a mother and father and two kids, two sons. A thirteen year old and a nine year old. They came here to adopt a kitten from the shelter. About a week passed and the mother and father came in with their nine year old with the kitten. It was in a rather beat up pet carrier. I asked them why they are bringing the kitten back. They told me that the kitten was being aggressive to their oldest son. I noticed their nine year old was in tears. The parents were heading out the door as I was taking the kitten out of the carrier. I noticed something was off when I was holding her. Her back left leg was being held at an awkward angle. I asked the nine year old what happened to the kitten. He told me his brother was being mean to the kitten and broke her leg. I thanked the kid for his honesty before taking care of the kitten myself after I made sure I seen the kid off to his parents."

Megatron looks back down at the cat in his lap. "I'm assuming that this I'd that kitten with the broken leg." He pets Millie, who once again starts purring loudly.

"Yes that is the kitten. I don't recall the details of what made her lose her leg but I remember it was broken pretty badly. It was a month later before that family came back, this time looking to adopt a dog. I lied to them telling them that the dog was on a long list of applicants and I'll be deciding which family the dog will go to. The father threatened my life if I didn't give them the dog." Y/n moves the cats off of her so she can get up. "Let's get these guys fed and their litter boxes cleaned up and I'll tell you what happened later."

It takes about an hour to get the cats fed and their litter boxes cleaned. Megatron decided to look around the cat room and sees that they had their own cat houses to sleep in. He found it rather strange that they were not kept in cages like normal animal shelters do. He decided later he'll ask why the shelter was set up the way it was.

As they make their way to where the dogs were kept, Y/n decided to finish her story. "Anyways, as I was saying. After the family left I called the police and told them what happened. Some guy by the name of Silverbolt came in and asked me for my part as to what happened. I even showed him the security footage, what happened to Millie, as well as the medical report for Millie as well. Silverbolt tells me he will investigate what happened. That was about three months ago and he still checks in from time to time. Last time he visited he told me to do background checks on any applicants who want to adopt." Y/n pulls out a ring of keys and unlocks the door to the kennel area where the dogs are kept. As soon as they walk in, all the dogs start to jump around excitedly as soon as they see Y/n and Megatron walk in.

Megatron laughs. "They seem to love you." He watches her as she makes her way to the back of the area and let's out a rather large dog out of his kennel. She points to Megstron and the large dog runs over to Megatron. The dog's tail was wagging non-stop.

"That is Lobo. He is a German Shepard wolf-dog mix. He is part Great Plains Wolf. So he's a bit big for his size but he's a rather lovable dog. It had taken me at least four months to gain his trust completely. It's a funny story really. But that's a story for another day."

Its takes two hours to clean up after all the dogs, feed them, get them outside in the exercise area, and even give a few a bath since some were needed to give. All the while, Megatron could tell that Y/n had calmed down quite a bit. He noticed how happy all the animals were around her especially the couple of birds that were there the shelter. It was about nine o'clock at night by the time the place was cleaned and taken care of. At that point Megatron was exhausted. "How is it that you can do this on a daily basis? I haven't done this much work in one day for quite a while," said Megatron.

"I do it because I know the animals will benefit from it." She heads outside with Megatron closely following behind her as she locks the place up. As she does she tells Megatron what she has planned for the class tomorrow and he agrees with it, knowing the students will benefit interacting with the animals.

After watching Y/n leave, Megatron gives Tarantulas a call. "We need to discuss a few things," said Megatron after he hears Tarantulas pick up his end of the line.

"Like what?" Tarantulas asks.

"I think in might know why Cryotek has an interest in Y/n. She's determined to get things done. She takes care of anyone that is in her life. I spent the whole day with her at the animal shelter taking care of all the animals."

"You do sound tired though. But that's not why you called, is it?"

"I need you to find Cryotek's lab and destroy whatever he has in it. I know he is going to act soon and try to do whatever he plans on doing to Y/n here soon."

"I already tried to find that damn lab of his! I even had Tarn's help in the whole fiasco and even he couldn't get through the damn door! Whatever Cryotek has in there, he doesn't want anyone to find out."

"Speaking of Tarn, give him a call and have him stop by my office. Also give Y/n a call as well. I want her to meet Tarn. He may be willing to help her."

"I'll try but I can't make any promises. He is retired though."

"Do what you can," said Megatron before he hangs up. At that point he changes into his dragon form and takes flight into the night sky.
