Harmony decided that she would go earlier, so she told her mom that band practice was earlier.
She walked over to the park. Subzero was sitting in the field of snow, making a weirdly shaped snowman.
"Want to help make a snow cat?" asked Subzero.
"I would, but I don't have mittens."
"Mittens? Who needs mittens when you have hands?"
"I'll freeze to death if I touch that without mittens."
"No you won't."
Subzero was humming a tune. Harmony knew the tune. It was called Tip Of The Iceberg. She had to play the drum part of it in band.
"How do you know that song?"
Subzero kept humming.
"Subzero?"
"Yes?"
"I asked you a question."
"Remember when I said your school was my old school? You probably still have the same teacher as me."
Subzero mumbled something. Harmony only heard, "get lost in music."
Just as she was done with the cat, she said: "Come on, let's go on the swings."
They walked over to the swings. Harmony decided not to get on a swing, but Subzero just sat on one and started to swing.
"I used to love swinging, but now I'm prevented from doing it."
"Does the middle school you used to take have a swing?"
"No. And I wouldn't go to 'recess' anyway. Too many basketballs. I'd get scared."
"I thought there wasn't recess in middle school."
"If you're lucky enough, you get it."
"What are some more differences in middle school?"
Subzero didn't say anything. She looked like she was staring at something.
"Subzero?"
"..."
"Subzero, what's wrong?"
Subzero still didn't respond. Two boys came to the swings, one on each side of Subzero. One looked at Subzero sadly, the other confused.
"Excuse me, do you know who this is?" The boy with black hair asked Harmony.
"That's Subzero. She hates middle school."
"That sounds familiar. How smart is she?"
"I don't know."
Subzero paid no attention.
"Subzero, how smart are you?"
"Like I'd tell that kid." Subzero responded, kind of rude.
Harmony turned back to the black-haired kid. "What's your name?"
"Aiden." Said the boy. "Aiden Tanghal."
"And so you are. I knew it all along."
"Subzero, you know this person?"
"Don't trust him, Harmony. He's a know-it-all that wants to get what he wants without thinking about others."
"And you're the opposite." Aiden replied.
"Of course we're opposites. Are you a Capricorn?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Everyone knows that Capricorns and Aquariuses are opposites."
"Zodiacs have nothing to do with this."
"Well, you still have a failed attempt to win my heart. And look what it turned us into. If you were smart, you'd be walking away by now. Why aren't you proving your smartness?"
"Because it's the same with you."
"Hah! You don't feel anything."
The boy that was on the swing next to Subzero was watching the fight. Harmony walked over to him.
"Do you know who this is?" Asked the boy. "They're familiar."
"They call themself Subzero."
"Never heard of them, but I saw my friend in a costume similar to it."
"Maybe ask if it's her then."
The boy watched them fight for a little, then called a name, only it wasn't Subzero.
"Winter?"
Subzero stopped fighting with Aiden. She said nothing.
"Winter, I know it's you."
Subzero still said nothing.
"Can you just respond to me?"
Winter hopped off the swing and ran off.
"Her real name's Winter?" asked Harmony.
"It is. I know it. Also, when she runs off, just leave her be."
"Do you know why she ran off?"
"I'm her best friend. She knows when to stop if I'm around. And plus, she's emotional."
Harmony pictured the person she was talking to, hold a scythe for some reason, with flames around him. But after she rubbed her eyes, it was gone.
"I think I'm seeing things." Harmony said.
"What did you see?"
"You were holding a scythe."
"I do want to fight with a scythe someday. Winter wants to fight with gauntlets and a bow someday."
But why did they need, or want, to fight?
