Not Your Hero (Chapter 5)

"Cat thing? Cat thing, where did you go?"
Star was looking for the "thing" she saw last time, the one that told her about the Rainbow Staff.
"You mean Blixer?"
The cat thing appeared, coming up the hill Star was on.
"Sorry." Star said. "You never told me your name."
"That'll be fine. Anyway, did you find the Rainbow Staff?"
"I found it, but I didn't... get it."
"Why's that?"
"It's being kept in a weird place, and I got attacked by my friend, who stepped in blue paint."
"Wait, did the paint look like Square?"
"You mean Max? It did! And I'm suspicious that he's keeping the Staff there."
"Also, what's in your hand?"
Star saw the button thingy in her hand.
"Is that a tape recorder? Press play. Let's listen."
"Oh, okay." Star pressed the button.
"Day 32 after beating Blixer at his 'game'. Everything's almost ready, and nobody found out about the Rainbow Staff. I can't really clean up these lighters on the floor, but one day I might. But I have the whole idea of Blixer's corruption. This blue paint can make me control any shape, and I mean any shape. I'll soon have control over the seven shapes. I already trapped two of them, and became 'friends' with the other four. Everything will be perfect, and any corruptions will be destroyed and done with. It'll finally be truly over."
"This could be either Penta or Max."
"Wait, who's Max?" Asked Blixer.
"Square."
"Oh. Well, obviously it's Square! This is his voice, there's blue paint, and of course, Cube turned blue!"
"I think I know what to do now."
"But, wait, he said he captured two shapes. But who are they?"
"We'll figure that out soon."

"Hey, Max, is this yours?" Asked Star, holding the tape recorder.
"That? That's... kind of like a diary." Square took the tape recorder. "Did you press any of the buttons?"
"Of course I did. I like pressing buttons."
Square went into a whisper. "Then you know who Moon and Heart are..."
"Who?"
"How much of the tape did you play? How did you find it?"
"One recording. And I found it."
"Well, don't listen to anything else in this thingy. Remember, it's kind of like a diary."
"Now, I get to ask you a question. Who are Moon and Star?"
"My... Imaginary friends! Heart's a pink heart and Moon's a purple moon. Alright, I gotta go prepare the surprise for tomorrow."
"What is the surprise?"
"A surprise!"
"Is it controlling all the shapes?"
Star could hear Square whisper, "She's onto me."
"It isn't. Now let me prepare it."
"Wait! Max, is that Pentagon and Triangle drowning in the river?"
"What? Don't worry, you two, I'll go help you!"

(These chapters get shorter and shorter.)
