Mackayla rolled over onto her side, stretching. She'd slept like a baby when they all finally made it to a hotel room. They all agreed that Alvaro's parents couldn't see them in that state. "Yo, are you awake?" Alvaro asked the girl. Mackayla sat up, rubbing her eye. "Uh, no. I'm not awake, 'Varo."
"Check your phone, Kayla," Alvaro said, leaving the room to go to the joint room. Mackayla reached across Carli to grab her phone. She had 1,682 new unread messages and 42 missed calls and FaceTimes. Skimming through them, she still couldn't tell exactly what the commotion was about. She unlocked her phone, opening her group chat with the boys, Carli, and Janae.
