Debbie's outfit is first, Carl's, then mine.

Taraji's POV

"Come on guys. Hurry up and get out here I'm not waiting all day and we need to beat traffic if you need to just bring your clothes with and change when we get there."

                                  "Okay we're coming."

"Hurry the fuck up!"

"We are calm the fuck down!"

I ended the call and tapped on the wheel then started honking it when nobody came out of the door after a few minutes had past.

They finally came out and got in the car and I pulled off once I heard all the doors close.

"You know you can calm down," Debbie said. "We're already running late." "They literally live not even that far away." "Okay would you rather have walked then." "With the way you're being, fuck yeah."

"Can you two just calm down." I turned the radio up and kept driving till we got there.

We got out of the car and went up to the door knocking. "Hey." I gave her a smile as she leaned in for a hug. "Hey Sasha, how've you been." "Good, come in." She stepped out of the way and we walked in. "Who are your friends?" "This is Carl and this is Debbie." "Hi." "Hey." Debbie gave her a smile.

"You got the house to yourself today." "Yeah, the kids went with there dad today." "You have a kid?" Debbie said from behind me. She looked at her. "Yeah, two actually. Is that a problem." She crossed her arms and looked her up and down.

"No, not at all. I have a daughter, her names Franny." "I have a daughter and son." "What's there names?" "Cadence and Darnel. Cadence is 5 and Darnel is 7." "Cool."

"I'm gonna go talk to some of my friends don't feel like strays okay they all are really nice people just get to know them." "How do you know them?" "College, but don't be intimidated some of them aren't that smart." "Okay." I gave them a once over then left.

Later

I looked over and saw that Carl was leaned against the wall by himself. I looked around and trying to find Debbie. I found her talking to Diego.

"You seem busy." "I looked back at him. "I'm sorry." "No it's fine." "No it's not. I brought my friends here and one of them isn't really fitting in." He looked over to Carl. I felt his hand on my arm. I looked at him. "Go get him." "No."

I shook my head trying to clear it. "Seriously it's fine." "You sure." He nodded. "Absolutely." "Thank you, I'll come find you later." "If you don't I definitely will." I smiled at him and let go of his arm going over to Carl.

"Hey." He kept his head against the wall.  "Hey." "Why aren't you talking to anyone?" "This isn't me." "It doesn't have to be you." He scoffed. "Yeah, okay."

"You really think this is any of them." "Most definitely." "Its supposed to be fun." "Well it's not." "How would you know. You haven't tried to talk to anyone since we got here." "Whatever."

"Carl, stop. Go talk to someone. If Debbie is doing it then you can definitely do it." "That's cause most of them have kids. That's something Debbie has in common with most of them."

"We almost had a kid." "Yeah, thank god we didn't." "That's how you feel about it?" "No." He looked down. "But it would have ruined your future." "How can you say that? It didn't ruin any of there future." "Yeah, I guess so." "Stop being a sad sack."

I pulled on his arm dragging him towards the kitchen. "Have a drink and call down." I poured him a drink and held the cup out to him. He took it and downed it.

I put some in mine even though I hate the taste of alcohol. I downed it and he looked at me with a sly smile on his face. "Let's dance." "I'm down."

He pulled me towards the crowd of people dancing and grabbed onto my hips.

We danced against each other for a while then just started dancing with everyone, bumping into each other not caring.

11:58

We got everyone to get a drink and we waited as we started counting down the time when it got to 11:59.

"5..4..3..2..1!" We drank and cheered wishing everyone a happy new years.

Me and Debbie were dancing together along with the rest of them. We were laughing and messing around and not gonna lie a little bit drunk.

There was commotion coming from the other side and everyone started crowding around. They were fighting pushing each other. I heard glass break, a scream then gun shots.

Everyone started screaming and ducking trying to get out. I held on tight to Debbie and Carl as we exited the house. We got in the car and I drove off as I heard the police sirens coming.

"Oh, shit," Carl said. I pulled over. "That didn't just happen," I said. "It did," Debbie said confirming. Debbie and I started laughing and Carl yelled.

"It's not fucking funny!" "Calm down," Debbie said. "Yeah, Carl take a fucking chill pill, you've been acting like you've had a stick up your ass all day." He sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "Can we just go home?"

I drove off going home. We got out of the car and went inside. Debbie rushed to the bathroom and threw up. I held her hair back and rubbed her back, then gave her some water.

She changed into pajamas and fell asleep on the couch. I drank some water and ate a sandwich. "You wanna know why I couldn't sleep?" I looked up at him. "If you wanna tell me then sure but only if you want to." He nodded.

"I sleep better when I'm next to you." "Oh." "Yeah. That's why I always stayed. It wasn't cause I fell asleep watching the movie, it's cause I knew I wouldn't have gone to sleep if I left." "I'm sorry." "For what?"

We went up to my room and watched t.v till we fell asleep.
