Chapter 28. Double update but it's only a baby one. ❤📖
He is really good looking. No Ali, don't even think it! He is very good looking. His muscles can be seen in his now see through white shirt.
"So first of all, you don't hold the lift for me and now you spill my coffee over me. Fantastic start to your first day". My first day? How on earth does he know who I am?
"I'm so sorry. I really did try to stop the lift and well you called me back so technically it was your fault" He raises an eyebrow at me.
"You don't know who I am do you?" He asks me. His English accent is beautiful. I shake my head at him, maybe better to play dumb but he speaks first. "I would have been your boss if you hadn't spilt coffee all down me".
My boss? What the hell is he on about?
"Come on, let's get cleaned up in my office and we can start you interview, although I'm pretty sure you're shitting yourself right now after this. Come on". I'm speechless. Literally speechless. He thinks I'm here for a job interview. Why is he swearing at me. He's gonna have it when I tell him who I am. This just isn't acceptable. I actually start laughing. Full on laughing in the middle of the corridor.
A few people pass me and give me the side eye. Great so now not only does my manager think he's about to interview me, I've now turned into the office lunatic. I meekly follow him back to the lift. We stand in the lift in silence. His phone beeps and he pulls it out, he smiles at his screen. The lift pings to a stop before I know it. The coffee has started to dry on me now, I stink. I hate coffee at the best of times. Let alone all over my shirt.
I follow him to his office, he takes a seat behind a huge mahogany desk. His office is nice, very clean and organized. Although I feel he probably has someone who does that for him, maybe that's what he think he's interviewing me for, I chuckle to myself. I couldn't have planned it any funnier. He pulls some paperwork from his desk draw, reads it for a minute then throws it back down. I'm still standing by the doorway. He glances up to the chair, I should probably be sitting in. When he realises I'm not sitting in it, he just stares at me.
"Are you going to sit down? I mean, come on you're already really late. That isn't a good start now is it?" I stay standing by the door. His arrogance is astounding, how on earth have I let him be the manager here. He hasn't greeted me properly, he hasn't even bothered to find out my actual name.
"Uhhh no, I'm not going to sit down actually" Let's have some fun with him.
"Right well to be honest, you're not qualified to be my assistant and quite frankly, you've annoyed me by being late, so probably best you just go?"
"No I'm not going to go James. I think maybe you should go" He sits up in his chair from the slouching position.
"Are you seriously saying that me. Who do you think you are?" He's stood now. "I think maybe you should leave before I call security"
"Okay I'll sit" I step forward and pull back the chair that matches the desk.
"No, you can't sit now. You have to leave. No sorry, I'm going to call security now" He reaches for the phone on his desk.
" I wonder what Alice Oliver would make of you" I say with a grin on my lips and he puts back down the phone.
"Alice Oliver, isn't here. I'm the head publicist here, who are you?" He runs his hand through his hair. Why do men do this when their nervous "Oh god. You're one of those stalkers aren't you? Look we don't keep any money on the premises and Alice Oliver isn't here so if you're looking for her, she's not here"
"I've heard she's very beautiful and intelligent to have amassed such an empire. Two strong business and three offices. Not to mention all the property she owns, all before she's 30,I wonder what she's like" I sit down on the chair. I'm having far too much fun. I think maybe lack of sleep and all emotional stress I've had over the last few days has finally caught up to me.
"Okay I'm intrigued" He sits back down. "Tell me Miss...uh.." His eyes scan back over the papers on his desk. "Davies, You have my attention, now what is your..."
"I think you need to tell me what you're doing here James?" I interrupt him.
"You're really taking the piss now. I've heard it all. Yeah I'm really ringing security now"
"I'll be in the staff room when you're ready James" I say as I walk out of his office. I can't keep the smile off my face. Bloody hysterical really. By the time I reach the lifts, he is running after me. I enter the lift and as the doors close. My eyes catch his.
"Hold the door please". This time I don't even bother to press any buttons to stop it. He can wait. The doors open again and I stroll into the staff room. No one is in here so while I have the chance, i pull my blouse off and shove it in my handbag, luckily I wore a white strappy top underneath, I pull my jacket back on and button it up. I make myself a cup of tea and sit at the small round table. It smells like toast in here. I wonder if he supplies food for workers here like I do in the Pembrokeshire office. I want toast now. I didn't have breakfast this morning, think I was a little nervous. He walks into the room after a good 10 minutes.
He is breathless when he enters the staff room. Sounds like he ran down the stairs. He sits opposite me and I continue to drink my tea in silence. He just stares at me. Now that I'm closer to him, I can see his features more. He has bright blue eyes, straight brown hair and a light stubble on his face. He's older than me I think. I do vaguely remember reading his file, I think he would be about 34 now, but I couldn't be sure. He has big hands and they look well taken care of. He is a lot taller than me, but again I didn't get close enough to him to see how much by. He is muscular I can see that, he is very handsome. Someone I would probably date if he wasn't such a prick. After I've finished my tea. Washed the cup and read a magazine that was left on the table, I finally walk towards the door.
"Come on then James Haverford the 2nd, show me what you can do round here". I'm really taking the mick now, why hasn't he called security on me. Their probably on their way up now. He must actually think I'm insane. I turn back to face him and grin at him. He rises from his seat and walks towards me so he is inches from my face. He smells like aftershave, toothpaste and coffee. Hell of a combination.
"Yes come along Miss Oliver, let me show you, how I've been running your company for you, shall we?"
With that he glides past me and leaves the room. Wait. What? What the hell just happened!!
