“So you let him go?” Steph questions after I’ve caught her up to date with everything over the last 24 hours. I feel exhausted, my body is shaking and I feel so cold. I really think I’m coming down ill.

“Yes Steph, I let him go. What else could I do?”.

“So are you still engaged or?”.

“Yeah. Well I mean I think so. I don't know. He’s told me to sort things out with Milo and go back to him. Whatever that means”. Truthfully I didn’t know. I didn’t know what to do. I care about Milo so much and I don’t even know why! There’s something that keeps me connected to him. I push the thought to the back of mind.

“I think that means you need to follow him babe”.

“Go back to London?”.

“Yes Ali. Look I love Milo but it would never have worked between you both, your life isn’t here anymore Al. What is Milo going to uproot his whole life and move to London? Not to mention he has Loweri and they way he treated you before. Jay is a lovely man Ali. He treats you well and I don’t mean to sound horrible but he treats you better than you deserve”. She takes a sip of her tea. I know she’s not trying to be harsh.

She’s telling the truth.

“So what did you need to tell me?”.

“What?”.

“When you came in, you said I needed to know a few things as well?”.

“Oh yeah. Urm....I’m pregnant again”.

She looks down at her feet. Her skin flushes lightly. Why is she embarrassed to tell me this?

“Steph, that’s amazing”. I slide myself off the chair to pull her into a massive cuddle. Tears spill over my eyes. I don’t know why I’m so emotional? When I finally pull away from her she’s crying too.

“Hey, what’s wrong? Steph that’s amazing news".

“I was so nervous to tell you” She wipes her eyes on the back of the sleeve.

“Why?”

“I don’t know. I guess because since I haven’t been working and Graham doesn’t make much money, I thought you’d be mad".

“Steph I will never be mad at you, it’s your life babe. Just because you live her doesn’t mean I have any say in what you do in your life. Its wonderful news. How far along are you?”.

“About three months. I would have told you but I didn’t even know. I’ve been feeling sick for a little while and tired but I just assumed it was because Colson isn’t sleeping and...well anyways yeah I went to the doctors yesterday and yeah".

“Steph. It's brilliant. You make beautiful babies, this one will be no different”. Now I take her in properly I can see the small protruding bump under her tight white tshirt, she looks different, her skin is glowing different. Why didn't I notice before? I'm a terrible friend.

“Ahh good. I’m glad you know now. The other thing I wanted you to know, was about Milo actually”.

“Oh god. Right okay. I need another cup of tea for this”. I move from my seat and put the kettle on. “You want one?”.
