{Poe Dameron} Missions Pt. 1 [Request]

     After dating Poe for six months, you've come to expect him to be gone on missions frequently. More often then not, his missions are quick in and outs. This time, General Organa has decided to send him and your best friend, Finn, to retrieve some crucial information from a spy in the First Order's ranks. You aren't too concerned given both of the Resistance's top fighters will be together, but you still have a small gut feeling that this mission isn't a great idea.
     For one, they would be traveling to a neutral system, where both sides of sympathizers and spies could await. Secondly, they will have no back up. This would be viewed as an act of war against the world's neutrality. Lastly, they are only taking one ship. Once again, that's a smart choice for staying under the radar, fuel consumption, etc. However, there's the chance that they may get separated and have to leave the other behind in order to safely retrieve the information. You sit in Command, looking over the mission plans and objectives while making a mental list of everything that could possible go wrong. Suddenly, a pair of strong hands land on your shoulders. Without thinking, you throw the hands off your shoulders, spin around, and land a harsh blow to their jaw.
     "Ow. What the hell was that for?" You hear your boyfriend groan.
     "Poe!" You exclaim after realizing what you've done. "You know better than to sneak up on me like that."
      He stands up and walks over to your desk once more. "Sneaking up on you? I knocked and said your name before waking over here—" He trails off, noticing the mission details on your holopad. "You're doing it again."
     "Doing what?" You say innocently
He raises an eyebrow and holds up a finger for everything he lists, "Rereading mission details that you already have memorized, making a mental list of everything that could possibly go wrong, and thinking of ways to prevent me from going. Sound familiar?"
You sigh and nod. "Sorry."
He chuckles, "Don't apologize. It's cute that you worry about me. As long as you realize that I'm going to go anyway." He gives you a wink and walks over to General Organa.
You roll your eyes and get back to work, putting your headset on and listening to the comms.
Not a minute later, Finn comes up behind you and actually scares you half to death. You squeal while Finn literally laughs until he's crying. "Did I just scare the fearless ____?" You roll your eyes and shake your head.
      "Of course not. I uhh—" You start.
      "Yeah, sure." He snickers. "I came to tell you that we are taking off in five. You might wanna tell that hotshot of yours not to get to cocky." He winks at you and walks to the hangar.
You stand up from your station and hang up your headset. From there, you jog to the hangar bay where your flyboy of a boyfriend and your best friend wait by a U-Wing transport. When you enter the room, Poe looks up from his fidgeting hands and gives you a smirk. You return the smirk and run into his arms. "See ya later, Hotshot."
       He lets out a small laugh, "Later, Checkers." He uses the nickname he gave you after your first encounter in the hangar bay when you worked as a mechanic. You had been wearing a black and white checkered bandanna over your face while working on his ship. Since then, the nickname had stuck.
     You embrace him and give him a quick peck on the lips, "You can return it when you get back."
      He chuckles and winks at you, "I'll be sure to return it to you."
     You then turn to Finn, who is making throwing up noises and pointing to his mouth. "Haha, you act like we don't know about you and Rose." He blushes fiercely. You engulf him in a hug and say just loud enough for Poe to hear, "Keep him in line, will you?" He smiles and nods. General Organa then enters the hangar and sends them off in their mission.
     Little did you know that it would be two months before Poe could return that kiss to you.
