I awoke the next morning with the sun shining brightly through the window. I got up and got dressed, then headed downstairs, finding Kristillier and Selene talking in the kitchen. Kristillier looked up at me and smiled.
"Ah, good morning love," he said. He came over to me and planted a kiss on my cheek.
"What are you and Selene talking about?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Oh, nothing really," Kristillier said with a wave of his hand. Selene looked at me as if she wanted to tell me something. "So, are you ready for more of your training?" Kristillier asked, putting his hands on my shoulders.
"Yeah, I guess," I said quietly and followed Kristillier back downstairs. As we headed down, I began to think about Liam and Jacob and about how much I missed them. I knew I couldn't leave, because if I did, Kristillier would go after Liam and Jacob and everyone I loved, and kill them.
We finally reached the room and went inside. We went to the middle of the room like the day before and I started off conjuring a ball of fire. I stared at it for sometime, before calling it off. "Kris, I'm getting really tired of this, I really am," I said, looking at him.
"Anna, I know all of this magic is wearing you down, but that is how you're getting stronger," he answered softly. I gazed at all of the spellbooks that lined the walls and went over to them. I trailed my fingers over their bindings, and I could sense an energy radiating off of them. I suddenly thought of an idea.
I closed my eyes and started to absorb the energy coming off of the spellbooks and soon I was feeling much stronger. I slowly turned to Kristillier, calling my light to my hands, making a plan in my head. Before Kristillier could act, I sent out a burst of light from my hands, blinding Kristillier. At my chance, I rubbed my ring and transported back to Liam and Jacob's.
When the light cleared, I was standing at the front door of Liam and Jacob's mansion. I was finally home! I rang the doorbell and waited. A moment later the door opened to reveal Jacob on the other side. His eyes widened and I broke into a smile and fell into his arms. He hugged me tightly as I clung to him.
"You came back," he said.
"Yeah, it took a while to get out, but I made it," I said, sighing happily. "How's Liam doing?" I asked and pulled away from Jacob.
"He's been better. He has a lot of his feelings back, so you should go see him," Jacob said as he brought me inside. As I entered, I saw Liam sitting on the couch. He stood up and looked at me.
"Liam?" I asked quietly.
"Anna..." Liam said softly, his eyes widening like Jacob's had. I burst into tears and ran to Liam as he opened his arms to retrieve me. I ran into his embrace as his arms wrapped around me protectively.
"Y...you're you again," I cried happily and stood on tiptoe to kiss him. I'd missed Liam so much it hurt. I then realized the mistake I'd made coming back to them. "You guys, I don't know what to do. I came back, but Kristillier is going to kill you and everyone I love for leaving him," I said, looking at both Liam and Jacob.
"Maybe not," a new voice came from the stairs as Erebus stepped into view. I stepped away from Liam and went over to Erebus, hugging him. "So, you finally saw the light," Erebus said.
"Well, I only saw some of it, Kristillier got the worst of it," I said with a small laugh. My legs suddenly buckled as Erebus caught me and held me up. Liam and Jacob started forward in worry.
"You ok?" Erebus asked as all three men looked at me in concern.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm ok," I said. Erebus let go of me and I went back over to Liam as he took me back into his arms.
"What's Kristillier been upto?" Jacob asked.
"He raised his army of Originals and is planning to start a war. He wants you and Liam dead," I answered. Liam cursed.
"Do you know how sick and tired I am of fighting? That's all we ever seem to do now is fight people, I'm sick of it!" Jacob growled.
"Jacob, I'm pretty sure we're all tired of fighting, but Anna is the one that has to end this all," Erebus said.
"Why's that?" Liam asked.
"Because of the prophecy. A girl of human flesh, small and meek. Holds a great power that she soon will seek. A decision she'll have to make, her life is one soon to take. A power she will soon find, will force her to leave her old life behind. A war she must fight, under a full moon at midnight. To save the one's she has fallen for, or the one she loves more. In the end, she must choose one. The beginning of the end has just begun," I said finishing.
"Where'd you read that dark poem? In an Edgar Allan Poe novel?" Jacob asked laughing.
"No Jacob, Selene told me it. It talks about my past, present, and future. Basically my fate and destiny being sealed," I explained.
"But how? Can't you change it?" Liam asked in concern, looking down at me.
"You can't change something that was set up by the most powerful witch in the world," Erebus said.
"He's right, there's nothing I can do to change any of this, it all has to do with the choices I've made. Kristillier was the one watching me for a very long time. He compelled those guys to come after me on the night of Homecoming to see how protective Liam would get, and to find out who my closest friend was, so he could use it to his advantage," I explained, beginning to feel the familiar headache come on again. I grimaced quietly, but Liam and Jacob noticed.
"Anna, are you sure you're ok?" Liam asked, brushing some hair out of my face.
"Yes, I'm ok, but it's you guys I'm worried about. If Kristillier comes here, he is going to kill you and then take me away," I said, becoming more afraid.
"I don't think he's going to be coming here anytime soon. Not when he has a war to plan and an army to train," Erebus said.
"I have a question to ask though. How do we know that you aren't going to betray us?" Jacob asked.
"Jacob!" I snapped.
"If I was going to betray you, I would've done it a long time ago," Erebus said tightly.
"Maybe you aren't doing this for any of us, maybe you're doing it for Kristillier to make up to him for your past mistakes," Jacob shot back.
"Enough!" I yelled, my light and fire flowing to my hands causing Liam to let go of me. Jacob stared at me while Erebus looked at me with a shake of his head. My fire and light went out and I crumpled to the floor. Liam dove to my side and cradled me in his arms.
"It's starting," Erebus said.
"What is?" Liam growled.
"The beginning of the end,"
