(Sometime following the events of a Speed Duel with Jace, Hunter Renegade speeds back into the city on his D-Board. It's nighttime and Hunter Renegade is heading towards a designated location to meet up with Commander Ghostflame to discuss something. As the city streets become more and more quieter, Hunter Renegade eventually arrives at the location he's supposed to go to. He jumps off his D-Board and lands on the ground, arriving at a location. In the darkness of Duel Monsters Interspace, the location shows that it's a small building, but all the windows are smashed and the outside is ransacked with graffiti and spray paint, making the place seem unusable and uninhabitable. Hunter Renegade walks around the building to one of the sides. He stands still for a brief moment, then is teleported away, with no one noticing him. Eventually, Hunter Renegade is teleported to a strange location. Screens are displayed, showing various activity across Duel Monsters Interspace. Nearby, Commander Ghostflame is watching the screens. Hunter Renegade walks up to him)
Hunter Renegade: Hope I didn't keep you waiting Commander.
(Commander Ghostflame turns to his bounty hunter comrade)
Commander Ghostflame: You've done well my friend. I admit, I was first hesitant when you first suggested to take on the kid yourself.
(A flashback occurs)
Commander Ghostflame: (Flashback) You wish to battle the kid with the Interfactor Of Bond?
Hunter Renegade: (Flashback) Yes, but only as a test. I refuse to let some weak Duelist of Gameshade pupil solider do the job again. I want to see if the kid can truly stand up to the elite that the Duelists of Gameshade have to offer.
Commander Ghostflame: (Flashback) This is a bad idea. I refuse to let this proceed any further.
Hunter Renegade: (Flashback) I understand your concerns Commander, but let this be a learning lesson to us. The more we can learn about this kid, the better we have a chance to counterattack. If we push him far enough, he'll have to use all his strength. From there, we can pick up on what we need to improve and what we can use to our advantage, thus bringing us closer to the Interfactors.
(Commander Ghostflame looks at his lead bounty hunter. Then he sighs)
Commander Ghostflame: (Flashback) Very well. But don't lose. It's vital you stick around.
(Hunter Renegade nods his head and walks away, teleporting out. The flashback then ends)
Hunter Renegade: I kept my word and had that kid bring out everything he had. Even with some of my best skills, cards and tactics, he was unlike any duelist I've battled and still found a way to push through.
(Another flashback occurs, showing Jace using various cards in the duel with Hunter Renegade, such as "Ultimate Code - Rubble", "Code Trust", "Cyberse Cache", and "Splash Mage" and then Jace using his Skill "Symbol Bond". The flashback ends)
Hunter Renegade: (Looking at his arm) I learned more about his Dueling Skills than I first originally thought they were at. And now, I know just what we're up against. Not only is the kid mastering unique combos, but he's advanced his dueling skills to use other tactics as well.
(Another flashback occurs, to Jace's 2nd turn during his Speed Duel with Hunter Renegade)
Jace: (Flashback) And now I have the necessary pieces for my next move! I activate a Ritual Spell Card, "Code Mission", from my hand!
Hunter Renegade: (Flashback) A Ritual Spell?
Jace: (Flashback) To Ritual Summon, I must tribute Cyberse monsters from my hand or field whose combined levels equal or exceed that of the monster I intend to Ritual Summon. But, if I control exactly 1 Link monster when I activate this card, I can tribute that monster and then target "Robo-Code" on my field, and make it a Level 7 monster until the End Phase. I tribute "ATVeeder" and make "Robo-Code" a Level 7 monster. (Robo-Code Level: 4 - 7) And that gives me all that I need. Using "Code Mission", I tribute Level 7 "Robo-Code".
