Episode 43: Tournament Time

(It's nighttime inside Duel Monsters Interspace, the sun has just set. Standing on top of one of the many tall buildings is Jace, overlooking the city. In the distance, Jace can see the damaged firewalls of the server. They are still badly damaged and continue to get very slowly more and more damaged with each passing minute. Techisk security drones and Techisk security guards are deployed around the firewalls keeping an eye out for anyone who gets too close)

(Jace knows what has happened to the firewalls. A flashback is seen, showing events where the old Duelists Of Gameshade Tower collapsed and before then, sent out a powerful shockwave across the server which were the direct cause of the firewalls being damaged. The flashback then shifts over showing events of Jace's most recent Speed Duel against a powerful Cyberse Duelist named Phoenix. The flashback ends)

Jace: Phoenix....just what are you after regarding the "Interfactors". 

(As Jace ponders more, he hears the sound of an approaching D-Board. He looks back and sees a familiar face coming towards him)

Jace: There she is. 

(Amy is seen on her D-Board, fazed and focused. She jumps off the D-Board and lands on the building, then stands up)

Maskedina: Hey, thanks for seeing me so soon. 

Jace: No problem at all. We both know this is urgent as it is. 

(Amy nods in agreement)

(A while later, Jace and Amy are still on top on the same building. Night as fully fallen and Duel Monsters Interspace is quiet, with the exception of a few users still inside the server, either dueling or socializing with one another)

(Jace and Amy look at the moonlit sky)

Maskedina: So, that duelist you fought. (Amy looks at Jace) Phoenix was it? What did you think when dueling him?

(Jace takes a deep breath)

Jace: I didn't know what to think, at least at one point. Phoenix is not like any Cyberse Duelist encountered before. He reminds me of Lazuli. 

(Lazuli, another Cyberse Duelist who Jace and Amy met once before a long time ago, appears in a flashback, when she was dueling Amy)

Jace: I know we met Lazuli a long time ago and her skills and Deck were tricky to combat. And Phoenix, he shares a similar vibe. 

(The flashback changes to Jace and Phoenix's duel)

Jace: Like before when you dueled Lazuli, I had trouble gaining certain ground against Phoenix. If I made one move, he'd have one in reserve ready for the counterattack, while keeping his field strong. Not to mention he also is someone who used both "Judgement Arrows" just like The Duelists Of Gameshade, and he used my skill, "Symbol Bond", as well.

(The flashback ends)

Jace: But despite what he did, Phoenix did share something useful. 

(Another flashback shows Jace and Phoenix conversating after the duel)

Phoenix: Just know that a great threat is looming for Duel Monsters Interspace, something more dangerous than what The Duelists Of Gameshade had planned.

(The flashback ends)

Maskedina: (Looking at Jace) If what he said is true with this potential impending threat, does this mean we should look at Phoenix as a friend and ally? Or do we leave him on the backburner for now until we can trust him?
