"Wait, you know me?" Zach's surprise was evident in his voice.
"Uh... I'm sorry, but we really have to go," the girl replied nervously.
"But you just said my name. That means you must know me," he insisted, his tone growing more upset as he stepped closer. "Please, just tell me who you are. I can't remember any of you. I don't know why. I can't keep living with this faceless person in my head forever," he pleaded, clearly distressed.
The first girl shot a glance at the other, her eyes filled with anger.
"I swear, I don't know anything about it. We did exactly as you instructed," she said nervously in a hushed tone.
"Tell Ark I need to see him now," the first girl replied, her anger barely contained. After a deep breath, she shifted her gaze back to Zach, staring at him intently before lowering her scarf.
As he finally beheld her face up close, he noticed the striking resemblance to the girl in his painting, although with different eye color and hair length. Seeing her in person, he realized she was even more beautiful.
"Let's talk somewhere else," she suggested calmly.
He nodded in agreement.
In a nearby park, they sought out a secluded spot away from the crowds. Once they were face to face again, the other girl remained a few paces away, still wearing an anxious expression.
"You weren't completely honest with me earlier. You do know who I am, don't you?" Zach asked, attempting to maintain a calm demeanor.
She sighed before meeting his gaze and responding, "Before we discuss that, I need to understand what you meant earlier about the faceless person in your head."
"For the past few months, I've been having déjà vu moments where I feel like I'm with someone, but I can't remember who that person is," he explained.
"If you can't remember who that person is, how did you recognize me as her?" she inquired.
He paused, taking in her beauty for a moment before responding, "I have a painting of you in my room."
Her gaze fell to the ground, and she remained silent.
"Please, I'm begging you to tell me what happened between us," he pleaded calmly. "Whatever it is, I'm here to listen."
She gazed at him with sorrowful eyes.
"Could you tell me your name?" he inquired.
"What if I tell you that terrible things happened to you because of me? Would you still want to know who I am?" she asked, her tone serious, yet her eyes betraying her anxiety.
He held her gaze for a few seconds before replying, "Yes."
After hearing his response, she took a moment before speaking again. "You haven't changed a bit... still so reckless."
He wasn't sure whether to feel offended or ashamed by her words, but then he realized their truth.
"Yes, we have a history... but there's nothing worthwhile for you to remember about. Believe me. It's better if you remain unaware of our past. You'll only regret it if you persist in seeking answers," she advised him.
