The wind roared, growing colder with each gust. Per trembled, sensing what was about to unfold. She ascended swiftly, scanning the chaos for Clair. She spotted her standing unmoved amid the destruction. Just as Per was about to fly towards her, Ark seized her arm and yanked her back.

"What are you doing?" Per demanded, her voice tinged with frustration.

The area, a few meters behind Clair crumbled and cracked with violent intensity. In a sudden, with explosive burst, the sacred gate surged upward from the ground. Everyone, except Clair, watched in stunned silence as the two stones rose fully from the ground, reaching over a hundred feet high. The portal in their center began to open, and the wind howled louder, scattering small debris. Clair stood still, anticipating what was to come.

"They're going to take her, Ark!" Per's voice trembled with desperation as she looked at Ark, who met her gaze with a sorrowful expression. "No, they can't do this to her. We have to do something!" she pleaded, tears streaming down her face. She struggled to pull her arm free from his grip. He held her firmly, unable to offer any comfort.

Zach dashed into the shop's storage room and squeezed through the small window of the comfort room. He sprinted through a narrow alley and vaulted over a fence. When he finally emerged into the open, he froze upon seeing two colossal pillars, one white and one black, standing in the distance. The area was in utter disarray. Gasping for breath, he scanned the surroundings, searching for Clair. Despite his apprehension, he cautiously approached the pillars, hoping she might be nearby.

After passing four buildings, he arrived at a more open area. There, he finally saw Clair standing motionless, facing the pillars, with no one else around her. The wind howled more fiercely, but despite the potential danger, his desperation drove him forward. He started walking, then broke into a run.

"Clair!" he shouted, pushing through the pain in his exhausted legs. "Clair!" he called again, his voice growing louder.

Clair heard his voice and, at first, thought she might be dreaming. But as she turned around, she saw him running toward her. The sight broke her heart, knowing he was about to witness her impending fate. The realization that the only person she wanted to be with would soon suffer from a loss overwhelmed her. His repeated calls only intensified her anguish. As she took a step towards him, silver chains erupted from the gate, ensnaring her right leg and then her right arm. The chains tightened painfully around her skin. Then, two more chains shot out, binding her wings.

Zach watched in horror, uncertain of what was happening but engulfed by a heavy, terrifying sense.

As the chains continued to wrap around Clair's entire body, she reached out mentally to him, seeking to connect.

"Zach... I see you. You were also running when I first caught sight of you... I'm consumed by shame right now. Ashamed that I must leave you again, and this time... I fear it may be forever. Please, listen to me... You've been the greatest gift of my life. You are my heart, my everything, and nothing will ever change that. I love you so much, and if loving you were a crime, I would commit it over and over without a single regret... Forgive me for breaking my promise again. Please, never forget that my heart belongs solely to you. Even in death, I will carry our memories with me... Goodbye, my love." Tears streaming down her face, her voice breaking with every word.

As the moment arrived, she gave him one final, sorrowful smile. Zach reached out desperately, but chains yanked her away, pulling her into the gray portal that resembled thick clouds threaded with flickering lights. And then, she was gone.

"Clair!" he shouted, his voice breaking with anguish. He lost his footing and crashed to the ground, his knees and arms scraping painfully against the rough surface. Ignoring the searing pain, he forced himself to his feet and ran forward, limping toward the towering pillars that had taken her. But then, the pillars began to sink into the ground.
