From Zach's expression, it was clear to Nally that he was there solely for Clair. She couldn't help but notice his frequent glances at his wristwatch and occasional scans of the surroundings. His actions stirred jealousy and anger within her. She had planned everything meticulously, intending to remove Clair from the picture. In that moment, she felt the depths of her desperation.
After fifteen agonizing minutes, Clair finally arrived. Nally discreetly watched as Clair walked through the crowd, searching for Zach. Intentionally, Nally led Zach to a spot where Clair could easily find him, and her hunch was correct as Clair quickly spotted him. Meanwhile, Zach remained oblivious to Clair's approach. As Clair made her way through the crowd towards him, Nally seized the opportunity. She grabbed Zach's arm, hooked her other hand onto his shoulder, and planted an unexpected kiss on him. It was swift and caught Zach off guard, leaving him frozen in complete shock and confusion.
"What was that, Nal? You can't just--" He was cut off mid-sentence.
With a smile on her face, Nally said, "I'm willing to give you everything, Zach. Absolutely everything... for your love. I'd even dance naked in front of you if you wanted," she declared fearlessly.
Despite the loud music and the crowd's cheers, her words came through to him clearly. "Why are you doing this now?" he asked, his confusion tinged with a hint of upset.
"Let's go somewhere else... somewhere private," she urged, taking his hand and trying to lead him away. But he pulled back.
Just as he turned to leave on his own, he noticed Clair standing only a few steps away from them. He halted abruptly, feeling as though the world had come to a standstill. In that fleeting moment, there was no time, no noise, and no air as they locked eyes. Then, reality rushed back in. Zach felt a tight squeeze in his chest as he saw the devastated expression on Clair's face. It was then that he realized she had witnessed their kiss.
Clair froze in place, her heart shattered by the pain she had hoped would disappear upon seeing him. It was so overwhelming that she couldn't feel anything else. Then, it happened. She felt it, the darkness within her clawing its way out.
Zach observed Clair lift her hand to cover her left eye, feeling a surge of worry wash over him. He didn't understand why she did it, but he was deeply concerned.
Terrified and heartbroken, Clair turned and fled, her hand still covering her eye. It was evident that she was struggling with something unbearable.
Zach noticed and hurriedly chased after her, calling her name repeatedly, but she didn't stop. She dashed through a dark, narrow alley.
"Clair! Clair, please stop!" he pleaded.
Upon reaching the alley, she had vanished without a trace. There was no sign of her anywhere. As he caught his breath, a deep sense of disappointment washed over him. He pounded the wall with his fist in frustration, consumed by anger towards himself. He knew all too well that he had done something terrible to her.
"Zach?" Nally's voice called softly from behind him.
"Why did you do that?" he asked with a heavy tone, still facing the wall.
"You know why I did it... It's because I love you," she reasoned, her voice tinged with sorrow and shaking.
He turned to face her, his expression a mix of sadness and anger, yet he approached her calmly. "It's time for you to stop loving me, Nal... because I can't return those feelings... I don't want your love to become the reason for me to hate you."
