"Are you sure, Per?" Clair asked, a hint of anxiety in her voice.
"I'm certain. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. We tracked down the person responsible for the parcel delivery. Turns out, he's just a delivery guy who made an innocent mistake. And there really was a Zion Boyd residing in room twenty-one of the apartment building. He happened to be at the convenience store when the fire erupted. The explosion originated from a gas cylinder in another room. Investigators determined it was a gas leak. Sadly, the elderly woman living there lost her life. It was all just a tragic accident," Per explained, her tone conveying confidence.
Clair let out a sigh of relief. "How is he, Fil?"
Filbur rose from the bed and made his way to the nearby small table, where he began putting his belongings back into his weekender bag. "He sustained numerous burns on his face, neck, arms, and hands. He also inhaled harmful smoke from the fire, causing irritation in his airway. I've applied my new salve to treat his burns; they should be fully healed in just a week. I've also given him medication to alleviate the inflammation in his airway. Let him continue to breathe oxygen until he regains consciousness. He'll be all right... I had a hunch I'd see this boy again." He glanced at Clair and Per, a smirk playing on his lips.

The next morning, Zach awoke to find himself in an unfamiliar room, immediately realizing he wasn't in his own. The sight of the oxygen mask on his face jogged his memory about the events at the apartment building. As he lay there, staring at the ceiling, another memory surfaced, causing his heart to race and a gasp to escape his lips. Doubt crept in as he questioned whether it had all been a dream, despite a strong sense of its reality. Amidst the confusion, one thing was certain: he needed to see her. Lost in thought, the sound of the door opening startled him, catching him off guard.
"Hey, you're awake!" Per said with relief, with Ark standing behind her. She approached him and perched on the edge of the bed. "How are you feeling? Blink once if you're okay, twice if you need help."
Ark interjected, "He's not in bad shape enough for that."
Zach lowered his oxygen mask. "Where is she?"
Per let out a silent sigh as she glanced at Ark, her uncertainty evident on her face.
"Go on. Tell him where she is," he urged her quietly.
Per glanced at Zach again, uncertainty still lingering on her face. "Are you ready to see her now? You can take your time to fully recov-" Her words were interrupted as he abruptly rose from his seat.
"I do want to see her now. I feel perfectly fine. I can manage to walk," he assured her, meeting her gaze squarely.
Exhaling deeply, she nodded. "She's upstairs on the second floor. Take a right from the door, then you'll see an entryway on the left. The stairs are just beyond that."
Silently, he rose from the bed and exited the room.
Per stood, stating, "He knows."
"He needs to," Ark replied.
Upon finding the stairs, Zach spotted Clair upstairs, her figure resting against the wooden railing as though anticipating his arrival. Their eyes met, holding each other's gaze for a fleeting moment. Then, she moved toward the staircase's edge, positioning herself there. "Are you here seeking answers?" she inquired.
