After a week, Zach secured Per's approval to take Clair to the beach the following Saturday.
Clair was thrilled upon hearing the news. She sought Per's advice on what to wear for the occasion, and she gladly assisted, even went shopping for clothes and other essentials for her. On the day of their brief getaway, Per helped her get dressed and styled her hair.
While waiting outside, Zach mentally planned their activities, considering both what they could and couldn't do. Nevertheless, his primary focus remained on ensuring Clair's happiness.
After a few more minutes, she finally emerged from the door. Zach watched as she descended the wide entrance stairs, her mini pink floral dress swaying with each step, her short curly hair bouncing in the breeze. It was the first time he had seen her like this, and he couldn't help but be captivated by her beauty, as he was every day. She gave him an excited smile as she approached him.
"She's definitely going to turn heads," he whispered to himself, knowing that many would steal glances at her.
"I'm ready," she said cheerfully as she reached him.
He smiled, displaying their plane tickets to Maryland. "Stay close. Promise you won't wander off?"
She giggled. "I won't, I promise."
He helped her into the car before taking the driver's seat and setting off.
Per observed them from the window.
Ark approached her. "Relax, they'll be fine."
"Are you sure? Shouldn't we follow them?" she asked, her tone troubled.
"Let them have this one. They don't have many chances," he reassured her.
She sighed, closing the curtains. "Okay... But be prepared in case she needs backup."
He chuckled. "You need to relax too. Wanna try bowling?"
She shot him a weary look.
He took her hand. "Don't fuss too much. Come on, it'll be fun."
Though not interested in the idea, Per went along, hoping it would ease her anxiety.

On the plane, Clair was flipping through a beach resort brochure.
"Do you like the ocean?" Zach inquired, noticing her interest.
"I once heard someone say the ocean is like a reflection of heaven. Seeing yourself mirrored on its surface is like seeing yourself from above," she replied.
"Do you miss your real home?" he probed.
"Yeah, sometimes, but that's not why I want to go to the beach. I've heard it's a romantic place for couples," she explained.
He chuckled, seeing her in a more human light. "Okay, let's make our three-day escape memorable and romantic," he suggested.
She looked at him, a happy smile spreading across her face. "The romantic part include sex, right?" she blurted out.
