"No, Nal. I would never do that to you, and I don't think that about you," he reassured her.
She frowned deeply, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Guilt washed over him seeing her cry. With no other option, he braced himself to confess. Taking a deep breath, he began, "The girl from earlier... She's more than just a friend. We used to be together, but something happened, and I lost all memory of her. Yet, somehow, my body still remembers her presence. I know this part sounds weird. When I was in Australia, I ran into her, but we never got the chance to talk. Now she went here to return something I left with her, and she's promised we'll finally have that conversation," he explained, the tension evident in his voice.
She was confused. "What's your relationship with her now?"
He struggled to find the right words.
"Is she your ex? Are you still in love with her?" she asked, her desperation evident.
"I... I'm not sure. As I said, I completely forgot about her. For some reason, all my memories of her are gone," he replied, his uncertainty palpable.
"I don't get why you still want to know your history with that girl. Can't you just move on? There's a reason why you two aren't together anymore, whether you remember it or not," she said, her tone filled with frustration.
He took a moment before replying, knowing deep down that she was right. "I understand that... but perhaps... there's also a reason why I haven't entirely forgotten about her."
"From what I'm hearing, it sounds like you're admitting that you still have feelings for her," she said sadly.
He felt a mix of guilt and embarrassment. "I don't know, Nal... Maybe... you should stop liking me."
"No!" she exclaimed, clearly upset. "I won't give up. I'll show you why I'm the one you should choose." With that, she dashed away.
He didn't try to stop her, but he couldn't shake the feeling of pity for her and the blame he placed on himself.

"Where are you right now?" Zach inquired, using the phone he borrowed from Calliso.
"I'm not exactly sure, but I see lots of lamp posts and benches around, and there's a statue of a guy sitting in a chair to my left," Clair responded, speaking through his phone.
"I think I know where you are. Can you wait for me? I'll be there in fifteen minutes," he asked.
"Sure," she replied.
After their conversation, Zach walked into their room and handed his friend's phone back. "I'm heading out. I'll be back later," he informed them before heading out the door.
Calliso and Jacksen exchanged glances.
"I bet he's off to see that rich girl Brennan mentioned earlier," Calliso speculated.
"He's seeing some rich girl and not cluing us in? Since when did he start sneaking around behind our backs?" Jacksen questioned.
"I think she's more than just a rich girl. He's been acting odd since our second week in Australia... Let's just wait for him to fill us in," Calliso replied.
