Chapter 15 – Picnic

“And you’re free to go like a little birdie excited to get the hell out of the cage and run around with those two cute legs.” The doctor smiled as he placed his chin on his hands. I glanced at Nurse Joy, who was behind him, holding back the laughter that might escape from her mouth.

His attempted joke made me grimace. “But birds don’t run; they fly.” I countered.

“Same thing Jane. Anyway, continue to do the leg reflexes or whatever it is your Physical Therapist did, and your leg will be perfectly fine.” he smiled.

I am already fine since I got my cast removed. Is he really a freaking doctor? I wanted to ask, but I don’t want to offend him.

I slowly nodded my head as a response, shook hands with Dr. Lim and stepped out from his office.

As I got out from the clinic, my eyes squinted from the brightness of the sun; my body adjusting from the tropical temperature; the heat kissing my skin. Feeling the summer breeze was brushing my hair. I ran my fingers to my hair, trying to get some of my hair out from my eyes as I continued making my way to the parking lot. Shoving my hands in my pocket, staring at my feet as I walk.

Right now, I’m just so glad that my precious leg was out of that thing. It feels good to walk on two feet. Not one and a half. I wasted my entire week doing nothing. I could’ve gone diving in the ocean, shopping, skateboarding, travel to different places but I just had to have that stupid accident.

I hated staying at home and be lazy all the time. It’s not good because it reminded me of who I used to be. Fat and lazy. I remembered, when I get out my bed, I usually roll. Like literally roll out of bed. It’s not healthy.

Anyway, although usually broken legs heal quite some time but mine only took a week because I have strong bones. I love to drink fresh milk and eat plenty of vegetables in addition with some medications I took. It definitely helps.

I already changed my lifestyle when I sat foot on America. I’m glad I made changes in my life.

Changes. Nick.

Why have you betrayed me precious head of mine?

After our fight I really build the strength not to talk to him, nor snap at him. When he tried to talk to me, I immediately shut him off. He used that shuttlecock trick on me again, but that didn’t make me want to talk to him. I really hate him for being jerk and a pervert at the same time.

I trained Pochie our sweet golden retriever to be mean to one Anderson. So whenever Nick’s around she growls and barks at him which scares him off. Ha! Beat that Anderson!

I smiled at the thought of Nick being eaten alive by Pochie. He-he. Out of the blue, I got myself thinking... I got one more week in here. In all honesty, I wasn’t that excited to go back. But I have to since I have to finish my senior year in Riverdale High and I miss my friends there who actually cares for me.
