Chapter 5 - I Guess It’s Home? (Part 2)
“Welcome home!!” My Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends exclaimed when we arrived. Yes, we are heck of a one big happy family.
I crept a small smile in my face, I’m just not feeling it. I looked around in search of him though I didn’t have much luck finding him. That’s a good thing I guess. Maybe he knew I was coming and doesn’t want to be here.
“Jane!” I looked over my shoulder to see a slim, tanned, dark-haired asian girl smiling at me with open arms.
“Allie!” I called back. I happily accepted her hug, and gave her mine.
“Look at you! Oh my goodness!” She looked at me from top to bottom. I rolled my eyes. Seriously these people are so excited to see me change.
“I know, I know. I’m hot.” I smirked. The asian girl snorted then chuckled.
“Since when are you conceited?” as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
“Seriously, Allie. You haven’t changed a bit. Still with those lame jokes.” I told her. My cousins and I aren’t that close anymore because I isolated myself a lot before. I’m like a lone ranger. But now I think it’s slowly coming back to the way it was.
“I know. And I know you love them!” she chirped. I managed to smile at her.
Looking around at the party, I noticed that it’s really... ineffable. I think that’s a good way to describe it. A lot of people showed up, mostly our relatives and friends. My mom seemed to know all of them.
From the sea of people, a tall dashing lad appear from a distance. I squinted my eyes as he got closer, I recognized the dude was another cousin of mine. “Hey.” he greeted at me showing off his pearly whites.
“Francis?” I touched his faced and squeezed it a bit. He looks different now. The last time I saw him was last year and he was really scrawny and short, but now he’s freaking buff and tall. “Oh my goodness! Shorty, you’ve gotten super tall! And meaty. I guess I have to start calling you Tall-y or something.”
“Not to mention hot.” he complemented himself. “And from this day forward, I shall call you shorty. Because you’re waaaaay shorter than me.”
“Yep, you definitely are my cousin. And you’re a dude. Dudes are taller than girls.” He laughed at my reply and I hit him playfully. It had me wondered where my other cousins are, “Where are the others?”
“Game room.” Francis replied.
“Snap! There’s a freakin’ game room?”
“Snap back at ya. Yeah there is. We saw your facebook, you we’re playing video games with your dad. I told my mom about how much you love playing and how much you’d love to have one in here, so she happily put up a game room next to the bathroom.”
“Sneaky.” I commented.
“And we saw you board too.” Allie inserted.
“You mean me with this baby right here?” I replied showing my babe.
“Damn that’s so cool.” He slowly reached for it but I swiftly hugged it tight.
“No! Touchy.”
“Honey! Come here, and take pictures with us.” Above the noise this house has I heard my mother’s call from the kitchen.
Groaning, as I turned to my cousins with amused looks on them. “Please don’t leave me with them.” I begged.
