Chapter 26 – First Day
I lazily rolled out of bed and checked the time. It's still 6:30a.m. But my mother wanted me to get out of bed to get ready for my first day as a senior in St. Catherine. Why are the parents always excited for school anyway?
I rubbed my eyes and stretched those lazy bones off and head to my bathroom. I turned on the shower and I remembered the days when I was still here. I got bullied a lot because of my physical appearance, I'm barely even noticed by anyone and it hurts. Especially when you get bullied by your own crush, now that feels like hell. I didn't care at that time when he bullied me. You know who he is. Because I was so head over heels.
Yeah until now. My mind teased. No I do not. And I am not denying.
Right now, I just wanted this year to be different. So they'd see me as Jane Riley Edwards, a simple girl with weird parents and confused love life, the real Jane. Not The Jane Edwards who got teased all the time because she's fat and needs and was called Elephant Girl.
“Today will be different, Jane.” I told myself. I shut the running water and got out of the shower. I took out my undergarments and my new uniform. Yes, mother had it done a week ago. So it's already freaking obvious that she wanted to stay. I looked at the checkered red, black and white cloth of my skirt and white long sleeves matched with the checkered necktie. I sighed, here we go again.

I jog my way downstairs and head straight to the dining room. “Good morning, guys.” I greeted my parents. My dad's jaw fell, mother looked teary-eyed. I chuckled, “I know, I know. I rock at this uniform.”
“Honey, you look so beautiful.” she looked at me from head to toe, she scrunched her nose.
“What?” I inquired. Following her eyes.
“Honey, didn't we buy you school shoes?”
“No mom.”
She puts on her thinking face and said, “That figures, take it off I have saved one pair...”
“Mom, it's cool. I love wearing my converse with my uniform. Besides I'm new, the guard will let me in, no one will even notice.” I reassured her. Though she's still hesitant about it.
She sighed in defeat, “Okay, but tonight we'll shop for your new shoes, okay?”
“Okay mom.” I grabbed a chair next to dad and glanced at him. His eyes were still on his iPad playing God knows what.
“Yes!! Pumpkin look! I got a new score!” he showed me his score which is 109 in this unfamiliar game he played. “See? I scored 109 on Stick Hero.”
“Gee that's great dad. Keep it up.” I replied sarcastically and he went back to his game.
“Here's breakfast sweetie.” mom laid out sunny side up eggs and bacon. Like the usual. “Eat up honey, you must have energy today. And I already packed your lunch. I'll give you extra bucks if you decide to buy more food.”
