Chapter 25 – Cassidy Chiu
I woke up tired from my last and final week of summer and today is finally the last day of total freedom. It’s a Sunday, my family and I went to the church around 6:30am and attended the first mass. And yes, I couldn’t help but take a little snooze. My dad had to nudge me because he said I was snoring loudly. And I do not snore. I guess I was just tired from all that swimming stuff and other tiring yet fun stuff we did with Dylan and my cousins last Saturday and any other days. We made sure we enjoyed our summer until every last of it.
I’m chilling at the porch right now with my dog. I can’t believe I’m going back to St. Catherine High. Oh well, no one recognizes me anyways so I’d be a new student to them. I haven’t seen Nick around so he’s probably spending his summer well too. My dog started barking and wiggling her tail from excitement, pointing her nose to the gate.
I stood from my comfy sit and see Dylan waving.“Hey Jane!” he smiled. I rushed to the gate and opened it for him. He ruffled his hair before he went in. I hugged him tight and inhaled his perfume. Hmm, smells like purple flowers. I love purple and flowers.
Pulling away from the hug and asked, “Dylan! What brings you here?” he chuckled softly before answering.
“I missed you, silly!” he said. He missed me already? But we hung out yesterday. I couldn’t help but bore my eyes to his physical appearance. Something’s different about him. He might’ve noticed me staring so he clapped his hands and changed the topic, “So are you ready to have some fun?”
I quickly composed myself and smiled at him sincerely, “Why? Where are we going?”
“To a secret place that’s not so secret.” I cocked my eyebrow. What the heck does he mean by that? He laughed at my reaction and continued, “We need to spend our last day of summer awesomely, in order to that we need to go to an awesome place, which is of course a secret place. But at the same time it’s not a secret place since someone people knew that place, too.” he said while I slowly nod my head in understanding. When we reached back to our porch, we sat there comfortably. Pochie was always barking, jumping around and wiggling her tail. When Dylan noticed her, he played with her for a while. He also rubbed her tummy making her feet move involuntarily. She licked Dylan’s hand playfully then he pats her head. Now someone has a little crush on Dylan.
I placed my feet on top of Dylan’s lap and lied down on our couch at the porch. “You have a plan for us?” I inquired.
“Heck yeah I did.” he said as he tickles my feet. He knows I love the feeling of my feet being tickled. Dylan’s like a best friend/brother to me. But better. He knows me too damn well.
“Great!” I told him and then there’s silence enveloping around us, he glanced at me and smile, I smile back. I couldn’t help but looked at Dylan one more time. He really look... different. He was still smiling but there’s something different about his smile. “Umm, D?”
I found him hesitant to look at me. I knitted my eyebrows. I finally saw his golden brown eyes boring into my brown ones, “Yes, Jane?”
“You okay?” I asked him with a little shake on my voice. He seemed different each day. Today is what really caught me.
