This is very much one of the Cinderella tale

///

Just like every time a new heir is to come to the thrown, they must choose a wife. One who will look over the kingdom with their king by their side.

However this wasn't how Peter wanted to choose his wife, no. He wanted to choose his wife just like any normal human being, not through force and looks.

Maya was just a simple commoner, a person who was just and always will be known as 'The Baker's Daughter'

She was smart, smarter than any of the people in the Village. People resented her for it, she never bragged, she never did anything to show it because it wasn't what people expected from her, but people still resented her for it, because they were jealous of her for she was one of the most beautiful women in town and she had the brains that went with it all.

Her hair was a light auburn but not ginger, she had small blonde natural highlights which could only be noticed when the sun shone upon her head. She could have all the boys falling at her feet if she wanted but she never wanted them to. She was never one to just fall in love and that be it. She just wanted to find someone who had brains and would love her for her, not just because she was pretty and wouldn't resent her for being smart.

She spent all day in that small cottage, baking bread day in - day out.

It was approaching the start of sun set in the village, it was usually around this time of day where Maya would take her horse out of the stable and ride into the forest, something she had always done since she was 7.

It was her mother who had taught her how to ride, she had been given her horse when she turned 7, the same age her mother had been given hers.

"I'll be back later pop" Maya shouts as she was about to leave, taking some stale bread with her which hadn't been sold

"Okay, i love you Maya"

"Love you too Pop"

Placing the bread filled nap-sack over her head and across her body, she closed the door before walking round the back to the stable her Pop had built just a couple of years ago.

"Hey boy, you ready?"

They cantered through the woods, something both Maya and the horse enjoyed, they made their way through until they had gotten to a small stream, Maya hopped off and roamed around for a while leaving her horse to take a drink and relax aswell as calm down.

However something confused Maya, she saw little dots of blood, only small, she looked round before she saw a small little bird with a sliced wing, he must have caught it on a tree somewhere

"Hey buddy, okay, just stay still, your gonna be okay"

Maya checked her sack before finding a small aid kit, one her dad must have placed inside last night knowing she'd be coming into the woods.

She pulled out a small bandage and cut it with a small pair of scissors, she picked up the bird and placed him on her lap

"Okay, this may sting"

The bird tweeted as she pulled out a splinter which must have been from the tree, she cleaned the wound and wrapped up the bandage around it's wing.

"There you go" she smiled, the bird tweeted happily, Maya then pulled out a small loaf of bread before breaking it up into small pieces allowing the bird to pick at them.

As she walked back to her horse she looked down to see the small family of birds, a rabbit and three mice. All six, now seven animals she had befriended whilst in the woods.

Maya chuckled to herself before bending down and pulling out the loaf of bread, and breaking it up

"Okay, but share and no snatching"

"Oh your a family" The small bird who had finished picking at the bread and flown over, still a bit wobbly, and was brought into the mamma birds arms.

She stayed a while longer, talking to the animals, to anyone else, she'd look like a crazy woman but to her, they were her friends, she could understand them and they could understand her.

She soon left and her horse slowly walking through the woods, by the time they had gotten back the whole village was buzzing around, Maya placed her horse back the the stable before walking round the corner and standing with her father.

"What going on?" she asked him curiously

"The King is holding a Ball so his son can find a wife, apparently everyone is invited to come because they will be able to see who will become his wife, you should go" her father explained and encouraged, however it seems a group of girls had heard and soon started to speak up

"Why should she go? It's not like the prince would want someone like her, she's just the bakers daughter, nothing more maybe less" One of them laughed

"I'll have you know-"

"Pop, it's okay, i'm not going anyway"

"What why? Love, i don't want you to miss out"

"And i won't be, i'll be here helping you with the bakery, their right, i'm the bakers daughter and couldn't be prouder"

"Your mother would be so proud" He kissed his daughters head before walking back inside, she placed the leaflet down on the table as he father closed the door, however someone had just seen what had happened, someone who was ready to do some research, someone...someone who could change Maya's life forever...
