Chapter 10~ Off The Rails

BRADIE P.O.V

I got Danni a bottle of water and she combed her fingers through her hair. Her voice was off the rails, I wondered if anybody else knew that she could sing like that.

“So what did you name your band?” She Asked.

“Short Stack,” Said Andy.

“Pancakes?” Danni asked.

“Yeah!” Said Shaun.

“Do you want to chill in my room for a bit?” I asked.

“Yeah, but you have to help me up first!” She said.

I grabbed her hand and pulled her up, she was light. I was afraid that I was going to break her. Just as we were coming out of the basement there was a knock at the door. May stood at the door, her eyes were curious.

“Come in May!” I shouted.

May let herself in and then came to where we were standing.

“I could hear that music from next door, it sounded beautiful, do I get a listen?” asked May.

“Sure,” I said.

We went back down into the basement, Danni stood at the door. I went back up to meet her, her eyes wide with horror.

“What’s up buttercup?” I asked.

“Ok, I can’t really sing and showing May is like suicide on my part!” She whispered.  

I took her hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

“You can, you’ve got an amazing voice. Don’t be afraid to shine!”

“I don’t know if I can do it, I get stage fright. Like really bad.” Danni said looking down at the floor.

“I’ll be there, you’ll be fine. If you get scared look at me, trust me, you have talent!”

I made her come down into the basement, Andy put a micro phone in front of Danni and I went to take my place at the keyboard. Shaun gave me a nod and that was my cue to start. The opening notes of “The back of my head,” played and I watched Andy take his part. I held my breath for the next part, hoping Danni would do it. I saw a look of horror in her eyes and then Andy came in singing. Andy looked over to where Danni was and then she bolted from the room. I heard the front door slam and then May got up.

“May, I got this,” I told her.

I went out running after Danni. May watched from the door. I saw Danni run into the park and trip over. She didn’t get up. I saw her roll over with tears in her eyes. They were coming down like a waterfall.
