Chapter 4- ASlight Headache

BRADIE P.O.V.

I led her down to the town shops, it was a hot enough day and I really needed to get something to drink, my throat was killing me. It was so dry, as barren as a salt lake. I walked into the general store and grabbed a bottle of water and an ice-cream.

“Danni, do you want anything?” I asked.

“No thankyou,” she said back.  

“C’mon, you have get something, otherwise Andy will hate on me!” I said.

“And why will Andy hate on you?” She asked.

“Cause, I was shouting and if I don’t get you anything, he’ll think I’m being selfish,” I replied.

She looked at me with Cautious eyes.

“Bradie, honestly I’m fine. I’m not hungry and you just get what you want,” She said nicely.

“Nah not really, he is a lazy son of a b, you sure cause like I can skip on this and you know go back to May’s house,” Dam, I was tripping on my words.

“Bradie, you’re really caring and I get that you are doing this for May but you get what you want,” she said at quick speed.

“Ok,” I let out the o, before I said the k.

I went to the counter and bought my ice cream and bottle of water. I felt really bad that she wasn’t eating.

“Look, I’m going to sit on that bench over there, I feel a little faint,” Danni said a little shakily.

“Ok, well I’ll just pay for this and I’ll be there in a tick,”

I watched her cross the road and faint to the ground, I dropped my ice cream and drink and ran to go get her. I crouched down beside her and put her head on my thighs. I got out my phone from my back pocket and dialled May. She picked up on the third ring.

“May, its Bradie. Something happened to Danni,” I rushed.

“Bradie, calm down, tell me what happened,” May Said Calmly.

“Well we went to the general store and she said she was going to sit down cause she didn’t feel to good, then she fainted. She still hasn’t woken up!”

“Ok, check her pulse. When I say go count it and then when I say stop tell me that number ok?”

“Ok,” I replied.

“You found her pulse yet?” asked may, still as calm as the sea on a hot day.

I searched her neck and then found a weak and steady heartbeat.

“Yep,” I said

“Go!” Said May.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten…..

“Stop!”

“Seventy two,”

“That’s bad, ok listen to me Bradie, tell me your location and I’m coming to get you,” May said a little bit rushed, still calm though.

“Just outside the general store, it’s not hard to miss us,”

“I’m coming,” May said, in the background I heard “Andy, no trashing the house! We still need to chat!” then the phone line went dead.

I saw May’s Subaru coming down the lane way, she was quick. She got out of her car and came to where Danni was laying. She placed her hand on Danni’s forehead and her face drooped.

“Can you lift her into the car?” she asked me.

“Yeah,”

I grabbed under her legs and her arms, her body dangling lifeless. I put her in the back of May’s car.

“Get in,” called May over the drivers side.

I got in and May drove straight to the hospital.
