Chapter 30~ A Day With You

BRADIE P.O.V.

I went home and we all worked on another song. Sway Sway Baby. It was amazing. Just sitting there and working so hard, making things go by. It felt so good to play the drums again, my freedom, my escape from reality. I really enjoyed it. Then I thought back to the hospital again, Danni sitting there all alone. I could hear May and Leanne laughing. I went back to my room, I saw Danni’s light off. I just wished she was up there looking down on me. I looked at my clock, it was half past 11. It was time to go to bed.

I woke up to my alarm, I really wasn’t up to go to school. I thought about going to the hospital. I grabbed Danni’s keys and went back to May’s house to give back the car. Danni would need it soon and plus I really could do with some exercise. I was going to go back to bed and hope for the best that I could pull off a sickie. I jumped the fence to May’s house and knocked on the door.

“Come in!” called May.

I walked in on everybody having breakfast. Everybody turned and looked at me.

“Sorry, I just came to return these,” I said shyly.

“Bradie, just take the keys. Danni won’t need them for a while. You need the experience on the road. Park the car at your house. You not going to school today again?” Asked May.

“No, I just, I don’t know,” I was so mixed up now.

“Come and chat with me for a moment,” May walked into the theatre room.

She sat down on one of the chairs and I sat next to her.

“What’s troubling you Bradie?” Asked May.

“Lots is on my mind at the moment, I’m just so confused,” I admitted.

“Yeah, like what?” Asked May

“Well, Danni for starters. I asked her to be my girlfriend and I think I’ve gone mad, I can’t stop thinking about when I found her near the car. And when I go to school, the thought of seeing her helpless, the crowd of students around her and the memory of it all won’t leave me! That’s why I am boycotting school,”

Whoa that felt so good to get it off my chest. I think a brick just unloaded from my shoulder.

“Alright, one more day off school and then back to school on Monday? Alright?” Compromised May.

“Deal, thanks May! I owe you one!” I said.

“No, this is my Thanks for all the times you’ve helped me. But don’t forget Andy and Shaun to school. I’ll see you at the hospital!” May got up and grabbed her coffee mug from the drinks holders in the seats. I gave her a hug and said goodbye to Leanne and Mark. I grabbed the keys back and went next door, I grabbed a few things. I grabbed my guitar. Andy was all dressed and ready to go, his hair still in tact from two days ago. I got in the car and turned the CD back to the radio and listened to the news, a bit of rain was on the way and possibly a thunderstorm. I drove to Shaun’s house, he got in the back like usual. I dropped both of them to school and I went straight to the hospital. Shaun and Andy agreed that we would go and see Danni after school. I drove back to the hospital and went straight up to Danni’s room, she was awake and sitting up. Her eyes lit up as she saw me.

“Bradie!” She called.

“Good morning gorgeous and how are we this morning?” I asked trying to sound cheerful.

“I’m on the mend, come and lay next to me,” she patted the bed next to her and she moved across. I sat next to her and put my arm around her. She rested her head on my chest, she smelled like Danni but sick Danni.

“So what’s the goss?” she asked.

“Well we started to work on a new song last night and it was going really good until it got late and Shaun and Andy were at each other’s throats,”
