DANNI P.O.V.

May drove to the hospital, apparently something had shown up in my tests that they did and it was quite concerning. I cried after May had told me and so we took a drive up there to see what the problem was, I had butterflies in my stomach all the way there. May had been really supportive, but she didn’t tell me the whole story. I knew there was more to it. May parked the car in the bay and we walked into the hospital, past the emergency room and into the doctors waiting area. I was really on edge. One by one people got called up and my nervousness grew more and more. Even May was twiddling with her thumbs. May was usually a calm person, but this time she seemed more on edge.

“Danni Lale,” Called the doctor.

I did the walk of fear with May right beside me, her face looking more and more petrified. We sat down and he had a look at the test results.

“I have some bad news to tell you,” he said looking towards May.

I sat up straight, what had I done to myself now.

“Danni when she wasn’t eating, her stress levels were high, she wasn’t drinking enough fluid, she was malnourished and it had lead to her heart being problematic. In easier terms, she has heart problems.”

I think my stomach just dropped.

“See when you weren’t eating Danni, you lacked a vital nutrients that every bodies heart must have, you lacked sodium and potassium and because you were never hungry you were neither thirsty. All this has caused your heartbeat to become irregular and if it progresses any further then it could lead to heart failure and possibly a cardiac arrest.”

May looked up and looked at the doctor.

“What can we do to fix it?” asked May.

“For now, I think that just reducing stress, drinking fluids and eating properly. But I would like for Danni to come and see me every week and on every second week we do tests. I’m not going to get her on any drugs yet but if the heartbeat doesn’t become normal we’ll have to re evaluate,”

I looked around the room, I couldn’t bare to look at the doctor any longer. On the wall I saw picture frames of all the degrees that Dr. Peter Walker had completed.

“So next Tuesday, I would like to see you Danni and we’ll chat it over. If you would like to take this to the ladies at the front desk then I’m sure they’ll book you in,” Dr. Walker more spoke to May.

“Ok, thank you for your time Dr. Walker,” sighed May and she shook his hand.

May went to the front desk and booked me an appointment for next week, I was really scared. I looked at the time. It was 2:48. I had to pick up Andy and Bradie. May said that she would pick them up and excuse me for not doing it but I decided that I needed to get it off my chest and a distraction was what I needed and wanted. I dropped May off home and went to pick Andy and Bradie up.
