Chapter 32~ Dawn of The Day

BRADIE P.O.V.

I really hated the fact that Andy and Shaun wanted to be Danni’s date as well but it was the last year of school. I let them have their fun. After the photos we had to set up the stage for our gig. I told Andy to look after Danni because with Shaun and I working it was quicker. I looked on the dance floor and I saw Andy dancing with Danni who looked quite comfortable. I smiled as I put the last cymbol up on my drum kit. Andy looked up to us and came up. He left Danni in the crowd, somehow she had managed to squeeze herself to the front. Looking up at us.

“Hey guys!” Said Shaun into the mic.

Everybody looked up to us. Andy started off the guitar for Shimmy a go go. Shaun looked down at Danni.

Oh can I catch your eye tonight (so beside myself tonight, so beside myself tonight), we can live forever, one line at a time, so lets sway…

By the end of the night, Danni was the only one who was into this.

“Danni,” called Shaun through the mic.

She looked up.

“Can you please sing the back of my head?” pleaded Shaun.

Danni held out her hand and Andy and Shaun Both helped her on stage. Andy moved to Shaun’s mic and I went to the keyboard. I held my breath.

It’s a late night and he comes home, he thinks of her, she’s all alone, watching tv by an open window, he wonder if she knows, he thinks only he knows but the days are passing and he thinks she’ll forget, so we keep it all here in the back of your head.

Danni moved closer into the mic, she was going to do it she was going to sing.

Shadows on the wall who mock me make a false sense of security, I think of deep thoughts and I try come from my lonely heart to your so you know that I’m there, but the days are passing and the fire is dead, so we keep it all here in the back of your head.

Shaun came in with the chorus. The crowd started to enjoy the song, I think it was all Danni’s doing. She made the whole thing complete. Without her the song would have sucked. We finished and then got an almighty cheer. After the song Danni went off the stage, it was a huge thing for her to sing in front of a crowd. The last time she didn’t even want to sing in front of May. We finished off with Princess and then we left the stage. I ran off with Danni down the school and out the back. We laid on the grass, her head against my heart. I wrapped my blazer around her like a blanket. This was my most favourite day of my life so far. I kissed her head and leant in to whisper,

“I love you,”

We laid there for most of the night, Andy and Shaun joined us and we all watched the sun set come up. Another day was dawning, we all fell asleep and used each other as pillows, I couldn’t be more happier than what I was now. Danni was asleep on my chest and everybody was worn out from a long night. We were all happy for now. I put my hands against my head and closed my eyes and went to sleep.
